The 4 members of Sphere, Aki Toyosaki, Ayahi Takagaki, Haruka Tomatsu and Minako Kotobuki, who sing the opening, play the 4 main characters, Rinko, Saki, Yuka and Natsumi.
Yuka owns an iPhone. In ep 5 at 5:07 she is seen texting Rin on it.
In ep 11 at 4:29, the girls practice for their idol audition with a white iPhone playing their audition song.
In Episode 7, at 01:46 a model of the USS Susquehanna, one of Commodore Perry's "Black Ships", can be seen (as in the real world) outside the train station (Izukyū Shimoda Station in Shimoda, Japan).
The story takes place in Shimoda city (下田市) in Shizuoka prefecture. Many of the main sights of the city can be seen throughout the series like the Izukyuu-Shimoda train station (伊豆急下田駅) in episode 7 and 8 and the LAWSON shop in front of it as well as the city's renowned beaches in episode 12. The station has even used posters of the main characters in the anime to promote the city.
In episode 8, the island that the girls visit is Hachijou island (八丈島), one of the islands in the Izu archipelago.
