Black Clover Anime Listed With 5 Box Set Releases in Japan

This year's 49th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine listed on Monday that the Black Clover television anime series will have five Blu-ray Disc and DVD box set releases. The first set will ship on February 23 and will retail for 17,000 yen (about US$149) for the Blu-ray Disc set and 15,000 yen (about US$131) for the DVD set. The listing in the magazine doesn't state how many episodes will be on each set.
The other four box set releases, listed as "Chapter II" through "Chapter V," will ship on May 25, July 27, October 26, and January 25, 2019. The first 2018 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on December 4 will reveal the extras that will come with the first edition of the first box set.
The anime is based on Yūki Tabata's Black Clover manga, and it premiered in Japan on October 3. Crunchyroll is streaming the series in Japanese with English subtitles. Funimation began streaming the show's English dub on October 29.
28-year-old anime director Tatsuya Yoshihara (Monster Musume, Yatterman Night, Muromi-san, Long Riders!) is directing the anime at Studio Pierrot. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit?, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Yatterman Night) is handling the series composition. Itsuko Takeda (Ristorante Paradiso, Level E, Blue Drop) is the character designer and Kumiko Tokunaga (2nd season of Kingdom) is the sub-character designer. Kosei Takahashi (key animation for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON) is the prop designer, Aiko Shinohara (Fairy Tail, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is handling the color design, and Minako Seki (The Silver Guardian, both seasons of Kingdom) is composing the music.
