The Daichis - Earth Defence Family
Saiyuki Gunlock is the third component of the Saiyuki TV series. Geneon is also set to release the 25-episode Saiyuki Reload, while the first 50 episodes are being released by ADV. Dubbing on Gunlock will be by Bang Zoom Productions, and release is scheduled for no earlier than 2006.
Shin Getter Robo [2004], (The sequel to ADV's Shin Getter Robo (The kanji for the two titles is different, ADV's is “Real” while Geneon's is “New”, but both are pronounced “Shin”)) currently being broadcast in Japan, is an alternate retelling of the classic 1974-1975 TV series. Likewise, Tetsujin 28 [2004] (also called Tetsujin 28th) is a remake of the 1963-1965 TV series.
The Rumiko Takahashi Anthology TV (13 episodes of stories from Takahashi's Rumic Theatre) series and Mermaid Forest TV (prequel to the 1991 Mermaid Forest (OAV) are set to be released starting January 2005 and mid-2005 respectively.
The first of three volumes of the 12-episode series Popotan and the first of three volumes of the 13-episode The Daichis - Earth Defence Family will both be released in December. At this time, the Earth Defense Family release will not include the alternate episodes from the Japanese home video release, however Geneon does have the alternate episodes.
In addition, the Tetsujin 28 live action film is currently being prepared for theatrical release. Geneon's other upcoming theatrical release, Appleseed, is set to premiere before the end of the year. Most likely, it will be released to theaters with an English dub, but a subtitled version is also possible. The DVD will be released three to six months after the theatrical run.
The Geneon release schedule through the rest of 2004 and into 2005. consists of the following titles.
August: Ikki Tousen, Dokkoida?!
September: Requiem from the Darkness (13 episodes, 4 volumes, $24.98 MSRP); Stellvia, Gregory Horror Show.
October: Lunar Legend Tsukihime (12 episodes, 3 volumes); Paranoia Agent ($29.98 MSRP, a box will be made available, to include unspecified extras); éX-Driver the Movie (includes both the 60-minute theatrical feature and the 30-minute eX-Driver: Danger Zone short).
November: Burn-Up Scramble (12 episodes, 3 volumes), Cybuster (26 episodes, 6 volumes), Submarine 707R, Onmyoji 2 (live-action film).
January: Samurai Champloo (7 volumes)
mid-2005: Daphne in the Brilliant Blue
