Kawahara is the hardest working man in the industry. 3 on ongoing LNs and you have to write for the movies, too? Just let other people write it and collect money

I wish the Alicization arc could get animated instead.

The English version of the film website is up as well, which has more information about the Augma device and Ordinal Scale game.

Most likely it will be announced on the end of the movie for an 2018 release. I'm pretty sure about it, they did it with Extra edition.

Was hoping for a sooner release, so we can get S3 already.
Oh well.

Also, more info and visuals over at http://sao-movie.net

Seems like someone doesn't know Kazuma Kamachi, huh? Very Happy

As for the movie, I wonder why did they make it a new game. Maybe they will make it similar to spoiler[Underworld] and want to see if the anime-only fans will like it?

The game has a unique feature where players can raise their rank by defeating monsters and using items.

Isn't this basically every RPG and MMORPG?

I'm guessing this is filler until they animate the huge Alicization arc which still isn't finished in the LN's. Makes me wonder how many episodes they'll require to animate the whole thing.

Anyone know how big a part Sinon will play in the later story arcs of SAO? She was easily the best written character in the franchise.

How is anyone supposed to know that? Shocked The movie is a original story set after the events of the Mother Rosario arc. So it's not based on the LN or manga. The only person who knows it is the writer Razz.

Just take in mind all characters remain to have some sort of roll through out the LN. But Kirito and in a little bit less way Asuna are the actual leads.

I was pretty tired from the SAO antics depicting Kirito as an overpowered dude with an unknown ability to attract girls to his harem. So given that this movie will be released in 2017, I'll have enough time to recover from that BS and enjoy it (hopefully) as much as I enjoyed the Aincrad arc.

I believe the sentence missed out the part where this game takes place in the real world and that the focus is on augmented reality and not VR. So I think it involves purchasing real world items to level up.
