That's odd, I wonder what these 'circumstances' are. I was so looking forward to it too -.- . Although it is Studio Hibari, so it's not that great of a loss. I hope the anime doesn't get cancelled entirely.

Wow... I wonder what happened to get the entire staff removed. Hope they still air the anime in the fall season.

Well I guess we're just have to wait and see what happens next with an April premiere date they were mostly finished with this show so I'm pretty sure they're still going to air it but when.

Now that's a very odd situation. I guess that's one show less for Spring, I really wonder what happened.

Studio Hibari is the parent studio of studio Lerche. Although they don't make many anime now, it's not some extremely small company. So most probably it's some inner staff conflict, not the production issues.

Honestly, I never really cared much for this spinoff. It just seemed like a typical high school anime version of the glorious Bahamut series.
Still waiting for the actual season 2. Hoping they keep the OP.

They should've just given Mappa another shot at this.

I'd say a good guess would be a meltdown within the production committee.

After watching Shirobako, news stories like this always make me cringe. Once you know how the sausage is made, there's no going back.

As someone who played the game for a while, I can confirm that this 'spinoff' was actually an in-game event a long time ago; notably, the first effort they made to make a story. So, this is actually closer to the in-game content. Unless they added the anime's characters after I stopped playing, that is.
A shame this is happening, though.

Since when is Shirobako a documentary or even realistic? Whatever.
The first series had no right to be good and yet it was so who knows here. The good thing about series 2 is that it seems unrelated to the first show so it´s quality can´t be tampered with, in either way.
@YotaruVegeta Constant cars chases, the utterly bland characterizations (it´s a K-On clone with easy to solve "drama" and a few educational pieces on animation), Nakama power nonsense and so on. 5/10 Way better comic and manga exist on the topic as Bakuman, Guy Delisle´s Pyongyang or the book about Gainax.
