That was a nice countdown. I'll be certain to listen to the songs.

I would recommend one song, linked below, but I feel that it would be cheating for 2 reasons. The song is call "Riders of Doom"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RieKG7pw6g8

Reason 1. It really only appears in many of the trailers, starting with Ocarina of Time.

Reason 2. It originally was from a Schwarzenegger movie called "Conan the Barbarian"

Thanks for another great Set List! It was a nice selection, though with so many excellent choices it could have had any number of things on it. Since a lot of the usual great ones were in the poll, here's some of my favorites that weren't:

Zelda II - Great Palace
A Link to the Past - Lost Woods
Link's Awakening - Richard's Villa feat. Totaka's Song (also its inspiration)
Link's Awakening - Sword Search
Oracle of Seasons - Tarm Ruins
Oracle of Seasons - Dancing Dragon Dungeon
Ocarina of Time - Volvagia's Theme (later excellently reused for Stallord in Twilight Princess)
Twilight Princess - Gerudo Desert

Also worth mentioning is the version of the Dark World Theme in the 25th anniversary orchestral CD's main medley. All I can say is, we all owe Koji Kondo a great debt :X

Another great list, makes sense to start with Zelda since that's like the bread and butter of video game OST top 10s. I couldn't even begin to list all my favorite Zelda songs, just going off the list we already have (in no particular order):
-Zelda main theme
-Dark World
-Zelda's lullaby
-Song of Storms
-Final Hours
-Sing of Healing
-The Great Sea
-Dragon Roost Island
-Molgera
-Ganondorf Wind Waker battle (THE BEST SONG, NO CONTEST)
-Farewell Hyrule King
-Twilight Hyrule Field
-Midna's Lament
-Ballad of The Godess

If I could I'd just write all of Wind Waker for the write in box, because oh my God do I love that game and it's OST, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick Grandma's Theme. I can remember hearing Koji Kono play it live at the Zelda Orchestra when it was in London, and it was just beautiful. It's such a good song.

Anyway, as for future video game suggestions, due to your love of the series I'm expecting to see a Fire Emblem list at some point, but as for other than that, it may be a weirdly specific choice, but could you do a list for the Paper Mario series (hell, maybe even just the Mario RPGs in general)? Those games have such good soundtracks that I'd just love a set list for them.

EDIT: It just struck me that I completely forgot the best Zelda song: Malo Mart.

Wonderful list, as per usual. While I've personally never found myself too invested in any of the Zelda games that I've played, I won't deny the series its fair share of praise in terms of its music. Looking forward to the next countdown!

#1 caught me completely by surprise.

Okay, let's see if I can limit this to (at most) one per game (that I've played):
-Dungeon (First game)
-Title (Adventure of Link)
-Death Mountain (A Link to the Past [with a fantastic arrangement in ALBW])
-Ganon Battle (Ocarina of Time)
-Final Hours (Majora's Mask) (Super happy to see it at #3).
-Title/Credits (Wind Waker)
-Midna's Theme (Twilight Princess)
-Ghriahim's letimotif (Skyward Sword)
-Lorule Castle (A Link Between Worlds)
-Title Selection (General)
-Zelda's Lullaby (General)
-Kakariko Village (General)

Special mention to Lorule Field from ALBW, Koume&Kotake from OoT, and a bunch of stuff from Twilight Princess.

What's wrong with the oboe?!

BTW, that's an English horn.. or a MIDI version of one, anyway. I know that sounds like its splitting hairs, but it is a big deal to me! The English horn is actually very distinctive from the oboe... You could really only get that haunting melody from the English horn.

Nothing! The oboe is great! Very Happy

Whoops on the English horn part though. I imagine it gets tired of being mistaken for an oboe. Or would, if it had feelings.

Well, I'll have to have feelings for it, then! =P

Anyway, here are my top favorite Zelda themes:

Hyrule Castle (ALTTP)
Hyrule Castle (Twilight Princess) - This one is amazing because it starts out so eerie but builds up to become incredibly intense by the end.
Dark World (ALTTP)
Final Hours (MM)
Tarm Ruins (Oracle of Seasons)

There are so many incredible Zelda themes throughout the years, though. It's impossible for me to really sit down and give a definitive list.

Great list! I was worried for a second that there wouldn't be any Wind Waker music on it. That one is my all around favorite, for music and just in general. I love the main theme, especially how it incorporates Makar and Medli's pieces from the game. Oh, and also the one that plays in the opening sequence about the Hero of Time! I guess that one really counts as the main theme... but that take on it! It's so simple, and feels so ancient and legendary. Oh! And the Dragon Roost Island theme is also amazing! It's light-hearted and adventurous, and... God, that whole game did such a great job with reflecting the atmosphere in the music. The overworld pieces were so nautical and light.

Other than that, the Ballad of the Goddess was great. It had a sweet , nostalgic sound, like an old lullaby. And then it launches into this epic reprise, and it's like... The lullaby is a remnant of a long forgotten legend, and that legend is coming back to life. It's amazing that a feeling like that could even be put into song.

I loved this list. It made me cry a bit, well, Zelda always makes me cry.

My personal favorites:

Zelda main theme (from A Link to the past)
Ganon's battle (from A Link to the past)
Boss battle theme (from Ocarina of Time)
Saria's Song (from Ocarina of Time)
Koume and Kotake theme (from Ocarina of Time)

My absolute favourite is Outset Island from Wind Waker, which has a tiny bit of the Kokiri Forest theme from ocarina of time mixed in. Also if I'm remembering correctly Zelda's Lullaby had it's start in a Link to the Past.

Never would have guessed Song of Storms for #1.

My 2 favorite are Temple of Time from Ocarina and the opening title from Twilight Princess:

The tune I could hear a million times is Malon singing the Lon Lon Ranch song/Epona's theme in OoT. I remember playing the game and just watching/listening to Malon sing for ten to twenty minutes.

Gerudo Valley, was a great tune, too.

"Hyrule Castle" was a great choice from LTTP (which remains my favorite Zelda game in spite of all other technical advances) - that's one of the few songs from any video game where I've actually stopped playing for a while just to listen to it. I also nominated "Dark Mountain Forest" to the list (that's the Dark World's Death Mountain theme), and the third song I especially like from that game is "Time of the Falling Rain," the overworld music at the very beginning of the game when you're wandering around looking for your uncle.

Zelda II's palace theme was another great choice, definitely my favorite from that game.

"Gerudo Valley" is still my favorite song from OOT - at least it made it into the bumper! As much as I like the game version though, the best version of it (IMO) is the 25th Anniversary Symphony version, which is just gorgeous.

My absolute favorite Zelda song is Fi's Farewell. I kind of hated Fi, but this song sure does it's job at setting the tone and making you sad to say goodbye. It's basically just a remix of Fi's Theme, but I think it is much better.
