That's pretty sad to hear, RIP.
My condolences goes out to his family. |

Very sad, especially since NCIS has actually been gaining a little steam in Japan since it got a Japanese dub. I don't know who's going to replace him.
It's great that he was given an award before he passed away, and I hope he was a very happy man in his final days. I wish for the happiness of those around him in these painful days. |

And the year 2014 claims yet another. Can't say I'm near as familiar with his work as I am with his later brother's, but that's beside the point - godspeed Rokuro Naya, godspeed.

Only a year after his brother too. Both certainly were talented.
Kiyoshi Kobayashi surprisingly still voices Jigen at the age of 81. He's the only original voice actor that hasn't given up his role. Eventually they'll all be gone... Personally, I view film to be an extension of one's life. These artists may be gone, but the body of work they leave behind forever immortalizes them. In my opinion, that's how people "live on" after death. We have the passing of the greats like Peter O'Toole and Robin Williams this year, but no one is going to be forgetting them anytime soon. As long as the fans are passionate, I don't think artists ever truly "die." |

Word on the block was that he voiced Squidward in the Japanese dub of Spongebob Squarepants.

This is the 6th big name this year to pass away. He'll be sorely missed. I enjoyed him in FMA:Brotherhood as well.

I know what you mean, I'm losing count of the amount of famous people from Japan, America and UK that have passed away this year. |

Might want to add Ken Takakura to the list of people that passed away in 2014. |

He was also the Japanese voice of Chucky in the Child's Play films, Scarecrow in Batman: TAS, and Squidward in Spongebob.

"E7 Ao" Voice actor? Mr. Blanc would've never came to mind.
I'm done. I can't take it. I didn't even want to reply to the other "death articles". I hear his voice and I always think, "There's no way he's 80" ehhh? o-O I wished he had reprised Camus for the OVAs because I think that was one of his favorites. Or he said "He definitely wanted to voice him again". I could be wrong. I think he was Chucky too? I CAN'T TAKE IT! |

Oh, I see he was Hanawa-sensei, the other teacher who wasn't Onsen Mark in Urusei Yatsura.
I think he was the teacher who said "It's raaaiiiiiinnnninnng today!" in episode 30, "A Beautiful Girl Brings Rain". |
