I know it is probably a very long shot, but I would love it if Discotek could release Touch.

Oh, this sounds exciting! Personally wouldn't buy Touch, but I know a handful of people who want it.

Ippo?
Please? I know the English dub is crap, but it's still a great show.

FUNimation is looking to license sports anime as well.

I want Ippo, especially the 2nd and 3rd series on BD, as I already bought all the Geneon DVDs for the 1st one.

I honestly think sports anime have just had a troubled history with marketing that has lead to them failing (maybe I'm being too ridiculous, idk). We got Ippo's name changed to 'Fighting Spirit', Eyeshield 21 having really weird programming setups and then Sentai's sub-only release, Big Windup's kind of sillier character designs, etc. I'm sure if there was better advertising and more careful planning with some of these series, they could take off, or at the very least, established fans might scoop them up (not sure how well the returns would be depending on the series) and they could cut their losses if they are ahead but wish to give fans of some classics domestic releases finally. I'm hoping for Ashita no Joe and an Ippo renewal myself, possibly Touch for fans of it (it fell off for me after the first Part which was an easy 10/10 but then really started to sink, ending around a fair 8/10 which may be a bit generous even). I hope that bit the prior comment said about Funimation joining in too is true, they certainly have some leeway with Attack on Titan and hopefully Bebop I imagine. I'd like to see Viz put out Cross Game on disc because I want to see if it fares better than Touch, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Wishful thinking.
I still have a bit of trepidation though because they said "new" sports anime licenses, so I keep thinking Yowamushi Pedal or some other recent thing, but I guess we'll see. I'm just so anxious to find out >.<.
EDIT: Forgot about Musashi no Ken; Justin made a very compelling article for that, it's piqued my interests.

Cross Game and/or Chihayafuru, otherwise I don't care.

I'm hoping for Ping Pong. I'd import it from the US if Discotek did release it.

I believe Funimation has the rights to it actually. So it will still be getting an English release.

Discotek is really good at licensing various older titles that fans had hoped would get an full official release (like Monster Farm) here, so the odds of them getting a desirable sports anime title is pretty good I'd say.

That's nice to know. I wonder if it means Madman will release it in Oz.

Heard about this yesterday. I don't really like sports anime, but it would be pretty cool if they got some of Dezaki's classics like Aim for the Ace or Ashita no Joe. Even the movies would be good (and those seem right up Discotek's alley).
