Yeah, I've been seeing some videos going up introducing you to the various ship classes, but I think it's been in development for quite some time. Could not have launched this at a better time.

If they rush it like they did World of Warplanes, they went from alpha to release in about a years time on that. Planes was a disaster of course.
My biggest issue really with WoT right now after premium ammo is how bad the Japanese tanks are compared to almost everything else. Even in Warplanes (and war thunder's planes, TBH) the Japanese get punched in the gut when they shouldnt. From the looks of things, World of Warships is finally giving Japan the power it should have. I'm super excited (especially since my dad was in the Navy so I grew up fascinated by ships) for this game. I just wish the anime events would be available to US players as well. :\

Depends on how they want to be with historical accuracy versus fairness. Most Japanese ships didn't have reliable or any radar and relied on night action but I guess that's not really an issue if the game is going to be all about using the eyeball. I don't think Kirishima and Washington could have slugged it out in broad daylight to even the odds either. And pretty much all of their battleships are either pre-Jutland or still WWI era, even with later refits they can only be so good. Either way, WWII naval action demonstrates how ineffective battleships were against aircraft and how their roles were reduced to protection and shore bombardment, so I imagine carriers are gonna be superbly nerfed.
Good call on no subs, they are sneaky and overpowered little buggers. It's a complete mismatch that their torpedoes can take down capital ships, and who has the time to send destroyers and destroyer escorts to hunt them.

the likely reason why wargaming rushed WoWP is because War Thunder is closing on them in terms of competition of having a nearly full working aviation mode and a semi working tank mode. I suspect wargaming quickly launching world of warships out so soon after the recent launch of WoWP is to 1-UP gaijin's Warthunder which has yet to announce a date for its eventual naval mode or Planes + Tanks + Ships combined arms mode.

Well, this is a completely unsurprising turn of events. Now where's the KanColle/WoWS collaboration?
