I hope that means more than 90 minutes, hopefully 120. Unfortunately, full-length can really mean 50 minute bullshit according to how the Oscars defines it, and anime movies less than an hour long are all the rage these days.

Well, they had a couple years to do it. Though I think they missed the boat for not striking while the iron's hot.

No, that boat is back and the iron is indeed white hot, the Anzio OVA just came out and that's gotta reignite any fans who've dozed off. It was just great and a nice way to show the battle and intermediate growth of the characters and their team strengths that we missed in the show. But I don't think GuPs really cooled down any, the mangas, figures, and model kits have kind of been keeping it going strong. And it's only been a little over a year since the last two episodes of the show came out.

Only sub 1-hour anime "movies" that I can recall are the double feature Hayate/Negima movie as well as Wake Up Girls 7 Idols. The former two were there to sell special editions of the manga that they were sold with (basically an OAD) and the latter was basically a TV special that streamed online (basically an ONA).
It'll be 90 minutes at least, for sure.

I guess you could exclude all of the serial movies that are either around an hour or less, like Kara no Kyoukai, Mardock Scramble, Break Blade, and Gits: Arise and others; but the recent Hal, Kotonoha no Niwa, and Hanasaku Iroha films were also rather short. The precedent is also neither new nor uncommon to anime even forgetting about the weird blur between some OVA and theatrical films during the 80s and 90s, those that were undoubtedly movies could still be painfully brief and they were not addenda or attachments to longer TV series such as Five Star Stories, Weathering Continent, Natsu e no Tobira, and Silent Mobius. That's why I wish for this to be a truly long film, Odin length!

Is it just me or is the character animation smoother than usual? I mean, I would hope it being a movie the animation would get an upgrade, but so many of these movies seem to look the same as their tv counterparts. Excited for this either way. Hopefully Sentai licenses and releases this, eventually.
