I'm sure that this is probaly meant to be tongue-in-cheek but...I dunno, for some reason it just feels a little mean and vindictive.

Virgil was not a greek poet, he was a roman. You might want to fix that.

Just when you thought ANN couldn't get any more preachy, we got an sermon about fire and brimstone. Thanks priest, now I know what manga Jesus wouldn't read.

The joke Your head This reminds me of how people kept thinking this psychology teacher at my college was an atheist when he was a deeply religious Christian. Also, I wonder what Mad Bull 34 would be like as a roommate? Would he lob grenades out of the window using his jock strap? |

Aggh, you're right, Virgil is Ancient Roman!! That's what I get for writing this at 1am. Unfortunately it's not usually possible to make fixes to the actual article, but error acknowledged. -_-;

Well, looks like I'll be rereading 888 before going to bed tonight. Not because it belongs in hell (well, maybe it does, what with being canceled and all), but because...
*points to culprit* I can't wait until the day you suffer with hunger in the sixth terrace of purgatory (Too obscure? Too obscure.) |

Oh, don't be fooled folks. These are not Jason's choices for the worst manga of all time. No, this article comes from a place of reverence. Five years ago may be a long time for some, but for me it seems like only yesterday Jason came by to reinforce that the only reason Violence Hero Riki-Oh is not considered the greatest achievement in manga is because Tetsuya Saruwatari's output at this high level is so prolific that it's tough to pick favorites:
http://www.animeworldorder.com/2009/12/anime-world-order-show-84-four-year.html Man. We talked about Uzumaki, Crying Freeman, AND Violence Hero Riki-Oh. No wonder Jason Thompson is so cool. |

I don't know what manga Jesus wouldn't read, but I do know what he would read: manga#10314 Pretty good trolling in this article, there are enough sacred cows slaughtered to get anyone up in arms. I, myself, would be offended if I didn't secretly admit it was true. Except Yotsuba, man, not cool. |

I dunno, that sounds kind of fun. Those stories are usually totally hilarious.
I almost passed out from oxygen deprivation when I hit this bit, because laughing. But actually, a lot of the Alice spinoffs are pretty good (can't comment about the others as I haven't read them). ETA: My vote for residency in MH would be cellphone manga. All of it. Check out the stuff on Renta! (the "Love Manga" tab gets you the ladies' het smut and the "Otaku Manga" tab gets you the dude-porn - both NSFW), and tell me you disagree. (The titles alone will keep you entertained for a good 15 minutes.) |

Manga AND the Divine Comedy? What more could I ask for!
Although I have a minor gripe - Megatokyo isn't from the viewpoint of Japanese teenagers, rather it's from that of 20-something American men. Although it still meets all the criteria for the "virtuous pagan" circle. Would American comics that don't sell themselves as manga, but have manga in their DNA be in that first circle, too? Both the Scott Pilgrim series and Demo have art that is clearly inspired by manga, yet are very much not OEL. Although both of those are far to good to be in any sort of eternal punishment... I've been thinking about what should manga should go where, but I'm having trouble thinking of manga that would be guilty of treachery, and thus earn their place in the final circle... |

Let he who is without sin...
Never has the term "guilty pleasure" has been more apt. Hell, I've been looking through some of my old Tenchi manga after the news release a few days ago. This stuff isn't going to win awards or be collected in premium editions decades from now, but I get some amusement out of them. |
