Hmm, I wonder what sense of humor I have? Since I could go through almost half of the Cuticle Detective Inaba anime series in 1 day.
Its interesting to see you like Don. I liked Hiroshi the best and Kei. Soumei and Yataro somewhat too.
Thanks for the Shelf Life.

I think I dropped Cuticle Detective Inaba after the second episode. The humor just wasn't enough for me.
Cool collection though especially those NANA volumes. I hope the manga resumes someday like HxH and Berserk.

Dropped Cuticle Detective after the first episode.
What kind of shelves are those tall brown ones?

Haruka's eyes didn't bother me that much. Of course, I wondered what the heck I was looking at the first time I saw them. However, I just became oblivious to them.
I consider the show a guilty pleasure. Every episode I wondered why I was even watching it but I continued anyway.

I envy you for your World Cup tickets! I think you made the right choice by picking the match with the highest chance of a good result for the US. I don’t think US will make it past the group stage due to Germany and Portugal, but I’m in the same boat since my country is grouped with Spain.
Anyways, have fun!

Hey my shelves made it up
I'm glad I can feature my growing laserdisc collection this time.
The brown shelves are about 6 foot tall by 3 foot wide and really nice. They were in the house when we moved in so to be honest I can't tell you where they are from but I love em.
I was thinking about buying cuticle detective, but I didn't know anything about it. I might give it a stream for a few episodes to see if I like it or not, but it sounds different than I thought it might be.

I hope the marketing people from Funimation pop in here from time to time, because this should go on the front jacket of the next Ikki Tousen release.
I enjoyed UtaPri, but it felt like a show that was too reliant on its gimmick. Like even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, by the time the second season came around I was just bored with the concept.

I did not intend to watch any of these but now Uta sounds kind of funny so maybe.
I loved Ikki Tousen when the manga first came out (Battleeevixxonnns) but I don't know how much more of that series I can take.
But you've held a hedgehog 0_0

Haruka's eyes *shudder* the color palette for the whole show looked like someone spiked the saturation slider to see if anyone noticed, and the QC was blinded, so it went out that way. But those eyes...
How many more months left until FUNi can re-list Ikki I HD? Not that it's necessarily something that will sparkle, but no point getting a lesser product.
Hmmm, photos dated from last Tuesday? Methinks Bamboo is not amused by the lack of submissions.

Dear Bamboo,
I was, before this date, unfamiliar with the 90s boy band. Of course, I had heard of them, but I did not know the difference between an NSYNC and a Backstreet Boy. Your link made me curious, and sent me into a maelstrom of terrifying hairstyles, weak falsettos, and skinny pants that might have sent me screaming to an asylum were it not for the fact that I got a new puppy yesterday who kept jumping on my head to bring me back to sanity.
UtaPri has nothing on the real thing for ridiculousness.
(Though that blond Backstreet ...Boy? is kind of cute... )

The only way Ikki Tousen is one of the best "exploding clothes" shows is if being among the worst counts as being "one of" the best, kinda like how someone who loses a race with 8 participants might spin it and say that he finished in "Eighth Place" instead of "dead last".
It might just be the worst such show in Funimation's collection. It is truly a feat when a show can have Carrie Savage as a lead character in its dub and still the dub can't save the show (of course, director Jonathan Klein admitted to intentionally tanking the dub so who knows what could have been...).
If Ralph Nader were an anime fan, his newest opus would have been entitled: "Ikki Tousen: Unwatchable in Any Language".

I tried to watch Inaba back when it was airing because the ridiculous setup sounded like it could be fun. It easily ranks among one of the least funny things I've ever seen.
Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of Japanese comedy in the first place but shows like Cromartie Highschool, Nichijou, Daily Lives of Highschool Boys and Seitokai Yakuindomo have really impressed me. Cuticle Detective Inaba on the other hand was pretty much everything I don't like about Japanese comedy in one show.
It's probably not as bad as stuff like Epic/Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans, Vampires suck and the like (Although if there were dated pop culture references every 5 seconds it might have been close) but it was pretty much unwatchable for me.
Thank God the Crunchyroll player stuffed up about halfway through the first episode. I really couldn't stand to watch anymore.

It might just be the worst such show in Funimation's collection. |
Clearly someone hasn't seen Master of Martial Hearts, me for one as I gave up on it after the first episode.
"Ikki Tousen: It's not the worst piece of fan service fighting dreck based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms out there." {Koihime Muso is just so much more fun and the rest are just ... why are there so many?} Dragon Destiny was a let down after the first season as Ryubi's faction just isn't interesting as anything Hakufu can do by herself.
I honestly forget it continued. I honestly don't care it continued but when Funimation pulls together a complete collection, I'll get it.
With Uta Prince I made it though five episodes; I liked the eyes, I didn't care for the "high school for creating pseudotalented pop idols that just happen to be focused on college age males" concept which seems less like a fictional concept and more of a wish of the industry itself; "If only these idols grew on trees and could be plucked like ripe, low hanging fruit..."
If only such an anime series could start with a concept rather than end on one.
I like Cuticle Detective Inaba. A gag series needs a good cast and I felt they were all good, not just the villains and when the series decided to get serious, very serious for such a series, I felt it worked great for both understanding why the main villain is both unrelenting yet still a nice guy.
The mercy kill to top all mercy kills; I did not see that one coming and for that, the show is easily watchable. Not one to be dropped in an episode or two...
