A shame that symphogear didn't rank, now I'll have to wait until the full list is out to know whether V1 reached 13k.

I'm glad that Hatarakou Maou-sama! is still doing good.

Almost 28K units for Volume 4 of AoT? That's about $2 MIL US. Figure another 5-7 K in the next week or so and easily $3 MM for just volume 4. Crazy how many units they sell. Good for them and I cannot wait to see another season or two.

Yeah, the only thing holding back AoT is the source material. They already had to do a lot of stretching to make the material they adapted last 25 episodes. They've got a few options in terms of how they want to handle it going forward. I hope they'll try to be as patient as they can and not simply resort to any filler.

I am also happy to see The Devil is a Part-Timer! continuing to do really good. I hope a second season is announced soon.

The lack of source material is not such a terrible issue. At the current pace of the manga, the animation studio could make a 12 or 13 episodes season each summer for the next three years. Or they could do a two-cour season between October 2014 and March 2015, and then a final one-cour season in summer 2016. I prefer the first option though.

i think the thing hold back AoT is the company who make them. The picture quality is not up to today's standard. That's why the anime is not selling as much as some people think it would. It sells less than Love Live!.

And they already have filler in the anime. They stretch a 22 ep length anime to 25 eps.

Not selling as expected?

I don't even know how to respond to that, it has the 4/3th best selling V1 of the last 13 years, and its the best selling anime of 2013(the chances of monogatari S2 outselling it are low). Its actually selling far more than expected. Its a huge hit. One of the top 10 best selling anime of all time.

Its selling twice as much as love live!, it currently has an average of 61k, what are you smoking?

I acknowledged that they stretched it. I'm using "filler" in the sense of "these plot points never appeared in the original." If they add dialog or characterization that doesn't impact the overall plot, that's just stretching, and not what I'm talking about.

Also, not that it really matters, but it doesn't look like it's selling less than Love Live to me. It's selling almost 50,000 per volume recently, with the first volume near 80,000.

I agree, that wouldn't be too bad.

I _finally_ got around to placing my October order with Amazon last night. My purchases are definitely not included in the numbers for last week, but the discs on the list that I ordered are: the Hanasaku Iroha movie, Hataraku Maou, and Free!.

Will I be able to comment on those same discs next week...? ^^

Good sales. Woo hoo for Clone Wars. Sad it's been canceled.

Literally everything after the first sentence is utter and complete nonsense. I love that last line. I could only sit and think, "you gotta be shitting me." Otaku say the darndest things.

As great as Kyojins was it didn't live up to the hype that it got. I'm not saying this as someone who hated it, but it's the truth. I actually quite liked SnK, but I also stopped watching it half way through. I forget where I read the statistic, but a higher percentage of people finished all of SAO than SnK. And seriously guys, SAO was terrible.

SnK is amazing, but it didn't live up to its expectations. People expected it to break 100k BD+DVD and sales for consequent volumes past volume 1 have dropped more than they usually do.

I'm glad it's doing well, but SnK fanboying is almost reaching SAO levels.

Is anyone here mindlessly being a fanboy? Who are you talking to?

Also, what? That would be crazy, who expected that?

Only the extremely deluded would expect it to reach NGE levels. What makes people think a series will become the 2nd best selling anime of all time before it even starts airing?

Where are you people reading this kind of stuff? I never thought I'd actually see people say that a series with an average of 61k, and a V1 that rivals madoka's V1, sold below expectations.

If anything, it sold far higher than expected.

Attack on Titan is averaging about 60k now, which is far more than anyone could have expected before it aired based on the normal anime sales trends. Since when has an action anime like it ever sold that much? Even Fate/Zero, which is part of a much more otaku oriented franchise, only sold 50k.

I'd be happy about what it sold if I was a big AoT fan instead of saying it should have done better.

Remember people how expensive anime is compared to movies(American or Japanses Made) or American tv seasons. AOT probably went for near $100 for 25 episodes. Considering its that much and what first place usually sells, that 27,000 is a lot.
