It's good to have a release date on this! Surprised I was actually looking into the third season before I came here to look into one of the voice actors for the first season's dubbed version, so surprise surprise! I did discover that Viz is going to drag us through the finale releases Hell that they enjoy doing and after December they apparently will release the final three volumes on a trimonthly basis... Rolling Eyes I see no point in dragging out a series that is already done and over with.

I am so pumped for this. The first season was strong, the second season was amazing, and now we get a third season. I am actually afraid my expectations will be too high, but nevertheless, I will totally be watching it.

Without spoiling anything, will this season be the final one, or is there enough manga material left for another one?

Basically, the anime series has run twenty-five episodes for every five volumes thus far. Unless this ends up being the last season by just jam-packing the last ten volumes in, we'll have a fourth and last season as this incoming third one covers volumes eleven through fifteen.

I am getting incredibly pumped up for the fall season. It's gonna be a tough schedule, what with starting to study again etc.

There are still over 9 manga volumes left to cover. The first season, which was terribly paced and full of filler scenes, only covered 4 volumes, while season two picked up the pace and covered 6 volumes plus the first 3 chapters of volume 11.

If the third season will really be the last one (and it's hard to imagine them greenlighting a fourth one now that the manga is over), I'm afraid they're going to skip a lot of stuff, and some of my favorite supporting characters like Hiramaru might end up getting the shaft. I wish they could at least make it a 3-cours season.

Actually I thought the pacing of the first season was just about right. Expanding on the characters and their relationships was a worthy task, even if it meant slowing the actual story down.

I guess the pacing seemed more sluggish to me because I had already read all manga chapters up to that point, and I could always tell when they were stretching a chapter to fill a whole episode. For the viewers who like the show because of the character relationships, that's fine, but I was itching for the anime to finally get to the Detective Trap arc, and the season ended just when it was about to start.

I haven't read any of the Manga, so I didn't know what was filler and what wasn't. I just enjoyed the characters and story for what they were.

I will say that the second season with its faster pacing was markedly better than the first. I rated the first season as "Excellent" and the second season as "Masterpiece". If the third season is at least as good as the first then I'd be fine with that.

I would imagine it would be. The manga really picked up after Tanto ended and Perfect Crime Party began, the latter of which happened at the end of the second season. Smile

This.

Definitely one of the series that does not hurt itself by focussing on its characters.

Dont set expectation too high for this season. While it will have some amazing episodes, some part of seasons are among of the worst arcs in manga... They start of great but their ending is rather disappointing. On other hand as its only their endings of some arcs that are disappointing, it means that only 1-2 episodes would be meh. Rest should be good.
