I really hope it's not a terminal illness as rumors I've been reading suggest. May a speedy and sustained recovery be yours, Kubo Tite.

Hope he gets better. I wonder if health issues might play a part in him starting the last arc of Bleach.

Hopefully another mangaka doesn't invoke ill health on bad otaku. Look what happened to Satoshi Kon.

Get well soon Mr. Kubo. And I hope your illness isn't to bad, and you are able to relax abit during your short break.

I find this unusual. I thought Shounen Jump had their Manga-ka on a schedule where each chapter is finished a week or two before they are published? So a normal cold should not force a one-week delay, there should be a bit of a buffer.
Either he's really, really sick, or sickness is being used as an excuse. If it is the former, then those rumours of some sort of dire illness might be true. If it is the latter, well he's had some rough times story-wise, it might have been that his editor asked him to re-write some chapters.

That's true, authors are usually 2-3 chapters ahead of schedule. Actually the note says that the chapter for this issue is not being published because corrections were not made on time -which I find kind of odd since I'd never heard of something like that happening-. What concerns me is that the note seems to imply that it's not just this issue, but that Bleach may go on a short Hiatus while Kubo regains his strength
I've seen Kubo exchanging tweets with Ryogo Narita recently about some online game that they both seem to be obsessing over, so I suppose he's feeling better, and I really hope this is just a cold gone bad or something like that.

@ dtm42:
Wouldn't the notice be more along the lines of "this manga artists is taking a break to collect more data", if it was the latter, like with Ken Akamatsu?

I really have no idea where Bleach is going anymore. I wonder if Tite knows, either?
Are we witnessing the mental meltdown of a mangaka? I hope not, but I'm a bit worried about it.

Oh god, D:
lets just hope its a cold and nothing worse...
at any rate, as has been said before, it might be an excuse? I remember sometime back a mangaka claimed she was really ill, and they spot her in some place happily shopping?

I thought the manga ended with the anime. I wonder if he'll ever get tired of dragging this thing pointlessly.
At least Naruto...
At least One Piece...
At least Gintama...
At least Dragon Ball...
Just standard stuff.

Don't be ridiculous Kubo's mental heath is fine clearly your worried about something that doesn't even exist and about the story of Bleach the recent chapters of Bleach have been excellent I assure you Kubo knows what he is doing its obvious he has had quite a few of these plot points set up for years now.

You know, you are allowed to pause for breath.
I also do not believe that he is suffering mental health issues, but I'll concede that I don't know as much about the situation as others.
Anyway, I have to disagree with you that the recent chapters have been excellent. I also have to say that I doubt that Kubo has been planning the current arc for years, as he has always been candid at how he makes things up as he goes along. But if it is true then he should hang his head in shame, 'cause I could have done better with a 2B pencil, a sharpener, a pad of lined paper and a free weekend.
