I thought Lupin was out of business several years ago? why they bother making a new show?

Wow, never thought I'd see Fujiko take an ecstacy pill.

Several years ago? lol
You may not know but Lupin gets a TV Special (~ 90 min.) once a year, you could consider these as a movies from the runtime.
It began 1989 (there are also 2 TV Special from '69 and '79).
Considering that the first Anime came 43 years ago and it's still running I'd say it's really popular.

After seeing the promo, it makes more than willing to see the first episode. I also like how the promo has an artistic style kinda like what was shown in Michiko to Hatchin.

I'm more excited about this series the mroe I see of it. The trailer is very coolly stylish. I like the slightly rough, sketchy character outlines and shading a lot. It gives it a more human, lived-in look, which is a welcome change from how so much other anime is so goddamned slick that it's hard to get a hold of.

Between the background of the poster at TAF and the man who appears in the video, it seems likely that at least some of the series will be set in India.

I wonder if the music for the video is a sample of the OP or some background music. I liked it, but it didn't seem lively and ear-catching enough for an OP, although it hinted at becoming more intense at the end.

That's good. It bodes well for the project if Sayo Yamamoto is bringing a distinct style to the project. I must admit that I have been half worrying that because of the importance of the property and significance of the anniversary, the production staff might be kept on too tight leash by a busybody production committee.

The art style and promos make this a series to see for me; I just hope it lives up to the expectations.

If this version features non-rapey Lupin then I am so totally watching it.

I hear you here, that's why I'm a little wary of the description which wants to keep the "sensuality" of the manga. I'm sorry my love for the character does not extend to him being a rapist.

I'm cautiously optimistic that it just means we'll be seeing a lot of nudity and consensual/solo sex.

Well, the director and head writer are both women, which I'd hope means that we'll get the good kind of sensuality, not the horrible and also not sensual one.
