Yet another means of watching anime legally bites the dust. Too bad.

I feel bad for those that actually called Version only to be told now that this program will be cancelled anyway.

[Kittens] Verizon. [Bunnies] Funimation.

[Mod Edit: Try to keep it a bit cleaner in the future. Thanks. - Keonyn]

Funimation had nothing to do with this.

This is ALL Verizon.

Too bad since I sometimes catch Funimation here and there just to check out how the show is before buying them on blu-ray.

Well...back to bittorrent searching!

Or you could just use the Funimation.com website and stream it legally.

If it doesn't make Verizon and its advertisers money, it shouldn'tbe there. Verizon is a business too.

It was nice to have the Funimation channel for a while, but their major problem in my eyes was that the descriptions of the episodes never included the episode numbers. At first glance it doesn't sound like much, but it made starting a new show a bit of a pain because more than once I started watching a show towards the end of the series. I think I will will try out Funimation's streaming service soon. As long as I can figure out how to stream it to my TV from my laptop I probably will like this service a bit more. My laptop may be a little too old to do this, but only time will tell. RIP Funimation Channel on Fios.

What a shame. I was really enjoying it. Watching that channel got me into such series as Kodocha, xxxHolic, and Black Cat - and resulted in purchases! - when we first got FiOS. The video on demand was convenient too, so I was already bummed when that got removed.

I concur. This is what made me shy away when some series were on; I was interested in them, but didn't want to be spoiled. Most of what I initially watched and loved from the FUNimation Channel I actually wound up watching episodes from the middle of the series. I felt compelled to buy the sets if I liked them enough so I could actually see them from the beginning - it's not like I ever knew when they were coming on!

I, too, am considering the streaming service with an ancient laptop, but I'm one of those folks who doesn't really enjoy watching anime on the computer. I do my homework and classwork on the computer, I talk to my friends on the computer, I goof off on the computer, and when I go to work, I'm still on the computer. The last thing I want to do when I seriously want to unwind and enjoy anime is sit in front of the computer again. I have my bluray player and HD TV for a reason, after all.

@ CardcaptorKitty

It just seems like the Funimation Channel had a lot of wasted potential. They could of done so much more with their channel and just seemed like they did want to follow through with the day to day detail that can make or brake any channel. I hope Funimation's streaming service is better done than their tv channel. 14 day free trial here I come. I agree with your sentiment that watching anime is better on a HD TV rather than a small laptop screen. Hope the streaming service works out for you.

It isn't possible to create a likable and successful anime channel. I don't care what you ideas you suggest to make it better, it won't succeed because of the wide range of preference diversity among anime fans. Especially since the anime fan audience is so small in comparison to other things.

You can easily connect your PC to your HDTV with a low priced cord and watch anime full screen on it. Its what I do.

This. I've got an old laptop that's about 5 or 6 years old that lives under my TV, always on and always connected. I'm always taken aback when people seem unaware that it's like every HDTV ever made can accept a VGA or HDMI and every non-Mac computer since the 80s has been able to output to one of these. A $10 or less cable is all that separates you from actually using that FiOS connection to it's real media potential.

Crunchyroll, TAN, Funimation, Hulu, Netflix, Crackle, etc blow the Funimation Channel out of the water in breadth of content and ease of accessibility.

@RyanSaotome, Mr. sickVisionz

Thank you, both. To be honest, I was vaguely aware of such a thing; I just have to get the correct cord to make the connection. The cord I originally tried it with my laptop didn't work at all and I guess the person who was assisting me either didn't understand what I was trying to say or didn't know what she was talking about. Regardless, it wasn't what I actually needed. So I'll try again.

The bigger problem now becomes which streaming service to get into. Decisions, decisions.

I still think it's a shame when a network goes under, though. Despite my small gripes with the channel, it sure was convenient.

The channel hasn't gone under. Just clarifying that since AT&T U-verse has it on an HD Premium Tier.

Also, not sure what any of you mean by not knowing the episode number & description when it's on the channel's own site and TV listings. http://funimation.tv/schedule.php

Wink

Just sayin'

A small quibble. Macs output to TV's as well. I hook my MacBook up to my TV from time to time via a mini-DVI to HDMI cable. I got one for about $4. The Mac Mini also has an HDMI port in the back.
