Not sure why they're calling this a "speed up," it's not nearly as dramatic as Bleach's gap.

Contents from v61-62 have already been printed in Shonen Jump :S

Totally not as big as Bleach, where the newest US printed was v37 and they decided to "Speed up" to v51 digitally (with the newest in Japan being v53).

Congrats to Viz for trying to make only a two volume gap between US and Japan publications though, even if it is only digitally.

I am hoping for them to have a Bleach volume release concurrent with Japan. As is they're only two volumes behind - one of which came out just last week. Pretty impressive, but I wish for them to bridge the gap even more.

They won't do that, even thought a concurrent release both in Japan and English Speaking areas would actually be a good way to combat the scanlators.

Didn't they release volumes 24 through 53 of One Piece over the course of six months some time ago?

Bought 59 and 60 earlier today, but I still need to finish 58. *sigh* Glad they're releasing more, just need to find the time to read them. lol

Once it's all caught up I probably won't subscribe to Alpha though. It releases on my b-day, but I prefer the GNs....

Baby steps, man. Baby steps. Releasing translated chapters two weeks after their Japanese publication date will not deter anyone from using free fan scanlations at all either, but the way Viz is going around it is the smartest one to solve that problem. I can see things change for the good of the fans. Not immediately, but this certainly makes it possible.
