I called the Borders down at the Charleston mall yesterday and they told me they will either close down in a month or the end of this month I forgot already.

So this weekend and maybe next I'm going to go see what kind of manga they have left.

In the previous Borders closures, both locations near me spent at least a couple of weeks clearing out inventory before shutting down, and I recall a comment saying that the chain would be entirely shut down sometime in September. So I'm guessing your location will close at the end of August rather than in 9 days. It's still a good idea to look early on - a lot of the better stuff will tend to sell early rather than later, unless you're looking to buy bookcases or other fixtures.

This really bites. =.= I saw my e-mail with the Borders' closing coupons in them. The thing is, I'm stuck here in Taiwan so I can't even go back to the States and snag whatever I want under their liquidation sale. I have two B&Ns and one Books-A-Million within my area so in terms of physical books, not a total loss. (Books-A-Million is ok, but their security tag is a pain to try to peel off....)

What I find sad is that here in Taiwan, their bookstores are thriving like crazy. You can find people sitting all over the floor reading!!! Yeah, just imagine the manga floor huggers expanded by hundreds and that's what you get. -.-;; More-over, you can find a lot of Japanese books here in Taiwan including translated light novels.

*sighs* I can't just transport my soul over to the U.S. right now, can I?

(Long live physical books!!!!)
