Umm, you must have the names mixed up. Yuri in that picture is hawt! And yes Yuri is the one on the left. Kei is the redhead.

I get that what they said was rude, but when you put so much extensive work into your cosplay and then pose for pictures that you know will be posted on the internet, you open yourself up to criticism.

You don't say to people "Let's see you make a better movie" when they talk about how they don't like Avatar do you?

Awesome cosplay. I can't imagine the time put into costumes like those. That's dedication right there.

Much respect to you two for creating great cosplay outfits.

Sure, but the individual made the remarks about the girls looks, not her cosplay.
I was asking this individual to post a picture of him/herself, since he/she seems to be be such a first-hand expert on human beauty (being such a discerning example him/herself).

The looks of a person is as important to the overall package as the costume. It doesn't have to be a close match. But I stand by my original comment.

So by your criteria the only people who will correctly cosplay are those with bodies and faces that look just like your favorite animated porn?

bwahahahaha! Stay in the parent's basement, pal. It's a scaaaaaarrrry world out there...

ROFL.

That's not even close to what he was saying. He said that the attractiveness of the person affects his thoughts of the overall cosplay. He doesn't think the Kei cosplayer is attracitve, so he doesn't like them as much as the Yuri cosplayer.

Or, if I'm reading wrong, he doesn't like Kei cosplayer as much because they don't look enough like the actual Kei.

Perhaps it's a combination of both. It's not, however, that they think only "those with bodies and faces that look just like your favorite animated porn" can cosplay. You're totally blowing this up to make Sunday Silence look like some kind of sexist pig, and being extremely rude while you're at it.

But Sunday Silence is a sexist pig. How else should one interpret "and the face on Yuri....ugh"? His opening post isn't appraising their worth as cosplayers, it's dismissing one of them and giving the other a grudging pass based purely on their looks.

It was a puerile, tactless thing to say and it's not hard to see why some people might find it offensively objectifying. Of course, being offensive was probably his intention when he wrote it so it might be best not to rise to the bait.

Sunday Silence is reaping what he's sowed. He's deliberately as obnoxious as possible as a matter of course and that's bound (intended?) to get people's backs up.
Besides, what tuxedocat wrote was hardly "extremely rude" - it was moderately scathing at most - and certainly less rude than what Sunday Silence wrote in the first place.

Funny, I don't recall Dirty Pair as being classified as Hentai.....but anyway.

I know how this is gonna turn into, so I think the best course is to just say "We Agree to Disagree" and leave it at that. Nothings gonna change past that.

Remind me again where I said anything remotely sexist? I could say the same thing about a MALE cosplayer (oh wait, I already did!! Sorta....) and not get an eyelash bat, yet applied to a female, I get the third degree?

Double Standards much?
