Could somebody with more expertise on the subject tell me what exactly a "chewing gum toy" is?
...I don't suppose it's a toy made out of chewing gum, is it?

I assumed it was something like a pez dispenser, but for gum.
That said, this is a pretty cool thing. Now if only they can make these things for all 10,000+ kanji and I might be able to remember a few of em.

It's a toy bundled with a piece of chewing gum, similar to how trading cards used to be bundled with a piece of chewing gum. The gum isn't stored in the toy, just packed with it.

What a clever idea! Actually, it would be a nice visual cue for adults learning Kanji, since the character transforms into the object. Like how (犬) changes into a dog. Cute!

The point behind these was to get them into grocery stores that normally don't sell toys as well as candy aisles. Thing is the gum is usually just a little 1'x1' pink square and the candy is little bland discs. The whole "candy toy"/"gum toy" thing is more of a loophole than a selling point.

Dear Bandai,
Since you've decided to basically scrap dubbing many of your titles while increasing prices, feel free to compensate for this by including one of these (or a set) in each of your titles released in North America.
Thank you.

I'd heard it was to market toys as candy to avoid taxes. I'd heard candy either had lower tax or no tax compared to toys.
Either way, I've bought lots of Sentai/Kamen Rider candy toys at an Asian grocery store every time I went to ACen, not for the toys, but for the candy. I LOVE the candy that comes in those.

Haha. I might actually want the tiger one! (*is Year of the Tiger*)
This would be great to put on my desk at school. I hope they're not random and you can pick which one you get.
