Neo-ADV licensing manga again?
(You might want to fix the La Corda D'Oro link in the article) |

According to the Encyclopedia, Maiden Japan is the licensor for Brighter than the Dawning Blue and Section 23 is just the distributor. Is Maiden Japan new? Because I've never heard of them until now.

Now that Clannad's dubbed release has been announced, that's another title being added to my June purchasing list.
La Corda D'Oro looks interesting. It seems to have some of the same themes from A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, and I seriously loved that show. If it gets on TANoD, I'll give it a shot. |

Someone actually licensed Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose?
I thought someone was jerking my chain the first time they tried to explain it to me. Edit: Wikipedia article for this series is bona fide comedy gold: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papillon_Rose#Papillon_Rose_OVA Obviously Section23 has none of FUNi's hangups about "morals" and "obscenity laws" Last edited by keikanki on Fri Mar 19, 2010 12:24 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Brighter than the..? Oh, the cabbage anime.
Actually, I don't think I ever got that far, I don't recall there being anything particularly wrong with the initial episode(s) but like many series it just didn't grab my attention enough to devote whatever time I had available at the time to watching it. The art for Corda D'oro seems to contain to many bishies for my taste and while I've heard it, I don't actually know anything about Papillon Rose. |

Ha! They got the show with the infamous cabbage Well, at least the what we get should be the DVD version. The broadcast version was so terribly animated...

Not to insult any of the new licenses, but this solicitation list (Clannad dub-release and Gintama Collection 2 aside) seems almost like a return to the old days of ADV when they would seem to license random shows with the hopes that at least one of them would "stick" and become a fairly good seller. The only one I had heard of previously from this list was La Corda D'Oro, and even then I only rarely heard mention of that show.
Compared to the past few months, this soliciation list kind of dropped the ball. Here's hoping July will be better... Though that almost seems likely to happen no matter what. |

La Corda D'Oro? Huh, Angelique must've done well for them. I'll check it out.

Wow, I really really wasn't expecting, um, Brighter Than The Dawning Blue (aka, that show I always just called Crescent Love) to get a R1 release. I watched the fansubs and enjoyed the show... though I sort of forget why in hindsight. Definitely gets better in the last handful of episodes, though. I'll buy it to pay off my fansub debt... might even watch it again just to see what I think of it now.

Dang it, Section 23! Money's tight! You're licensing all these titles I've had an interest in, but never had any real hopes of seeing, so now I actually have to buy them. |
