You know, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this like the 3rd time Tylor has been released here?
http://www.animeacademy.com/finalrevdisplay.php?id=265 Still a good show. |

Tylor remastered?
I'm so there. "Downtown Dance". 50 dollar MSRP is great. That means I should be able to find it for 30-35 or so. |

I knew it! Last week, when Shawnek posted the usual stuff for TRSI in the retail forum, I clicked on the show site links and saw for Tylor "new news next week" or something along those lines and went "hmm, wonder if they're going to re-release it...."
still, this finally gives me an opportunity to see it, since it seems like my type of show. As long as it's reasonably priced, I'm there. |

I am really glad they are offering a trade-in program. Of course I am wondering how that will all work. I have the limited editions, not the singles, so I guess I would just send in the discs that have the episodes on them.
Either way, it really shows how much Right Stuff/Nozomi cares about its fans. |

This is great! I need to pick this up once it's released. Always had heard everyone say how good this series was but never saw it or picked up when the original DVD's were being released. Now I can finally pick it up and see it.

So I guess waiting worked.
I've picked up 2 of the dvds used & have always thought about completing the series |

I've also heard nothing but good things about Capt. Tylor, but have also never seen it. That being said, all descriptions i've heard of this series make it sound similar in tone (LOL hilarious but with a solid and surprisingly dramatic at times underlying story arc) to Nadesico (which I have seen), but more sophisticated. At any rate, that plus Crispin Freeman playing the titular role are all the selling points I need. (need I mention he's a great Kyon?) |

Correction, I think this is the 3rd time on DVD... It was out on VHS prior. ; But Darn, didn't they call the last sets, which I own, the Ultra Edition? |

Sweet, this is good news. I've heard such good things about this series, I'm really curious about it. I'm going to rent a couple eps, make sure it's interesting, and hopefully buy this set. I love TRSI's DVD sets.
EDIT: Okay, I was going to rent this, but Netflix is missing the first disc (they don't make it easy to do the right thing. ). Can I pick up the gist of the show with the second disc, or is the first disc absolutely essential to watch? |

You could pick up the gist without the first disk, though you might be slightly confused.
Just know that there is a war going on right now between the Raalgon Empire and the UPSF (United Planets Space Forces). Tylor, who only wanted to live an easy life, inadvertently becomes the captain of the UPSF spaceship Soyokaze and through seemingly insane luck, is able to defeat various fleets of the Raalgon Empire. The first disc in the introduction to the main crucial cast though, as well as how Tylor actualy becomes a captain, but you could probably enjoy the second disc and laugh at Tylor's flippant behavior, or Yamamoto's/Yuriko's complete seriousness in all things. |

Saw this so long ago yet still contrary to everyone around me, I don't think the ending is even near the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Haha that's awesome. My boyfriend had just made me watch this with him, and I said "Well, it's a shame that it's out of print, because I wouldn't have minded to have my own copy of it"
Thanks, Rightstuf! |

100% agree with that assessment. Nadesico was the first anime series I ever watched, and Tylor was the second. Those two shows cemented my newfound love for the medium, and 8+ years later are still among my top 5 of all time. I've always considered Irresponsible Captain Tylor as a work of genius, a tightly knit story across 26 episodes that seems goofy as it goes, right up until it smacks you upside the head with how much the characters have grown on you and how much a galactic struggle has hinged on Tylor's philosophy on life. It's good stuff. |

Another thing on my "to buy" list.
Of course, I don't see what's wrong with digital overlays. They still translate the signs and stuff. |

Same here. I'm pretty sure such a trade-in program wouldn't be free of cost, but if it was limited to shipping and handling, that would be great. I'd rather not have to trade in the LE box either, given that Crispin Freeman signed it at a con a few years back. If the disc count for the new release is the same as the LE release, reusing the LE box then becomes a possibility as well. Guess I'll just wait and see how this turns out. |
