Kakizaki is a great artist and love his work.... but Japan should stay away from making films about WW2 unless it's something anti-war like The Human Bullet or Godzilla. Anything that even hint of glorifying the Japanese military, be it island war with the US, but especially anything in China or Korea any Asian nations that have suffered under the unimaginable cruelty of the Japanese... just don't.

I'm not sure which country tries to change history more; the US, with their, "it was us against the world", or Japan, with their "only the US fought us, oh, btw, we didn't use biological weapons..." The Kuril islands were of almost no interest to US forces in ww2 whatsoever. The Soviet Union on the other hand, y'know, the ones who ACTUALLY invaded those islands... Not even going to bother talking about the British empire, the French empire, the Netherlands or all the resistance forces who fought them either as it would get far too political for an animu website. Just annoys me, that's all. |
