It's gonna be a sad day as this is the last work which can be credited by Akira Toriyama sensei.

17 episodes is a bizarre episode count.

You might need to read slower. "The 17th episode aired on Friday. Thus, if one new episode aired weekly until February 28, the anime would end in its 20th episode. "

We've known it would be 20 episodes since it leaked out over a year ago.

Anyway, fun show and it will be sad to see it end... the final work of Toriyama. IMO Dragon Ball should end here but we all know it won't.

Yeah, this leak coming from a guy who represents their American office.....which is kinda new because usually leaks like this would come from their European office on their own website.

Then it was accidentally confirmed by Hulu a few weeks ago and by accidentally, I mean it's because they later updated the schedule and removed that detail.

20 episodes is an unusual length for a show, but I suppose it's just the amount of story Toriyama came up with. Sure, they could have easily extended it by developing the new characters more and exploring the Demon Realm in further detail, but it's not like they knew this would end up being his final work.

I think this might be the shortest Dragon Ball show to date. How much was Toriyama involved in this series?

The finale is going to be a little later for those of us watching on US Netflix. March 7, I suppose.

Incredibly much. The entire series concept was brought up by him, handled by him, and overseen by him from his original idea and direction and was made simply because he very much wanted to do it, and not asked of him by TOEI or anyone else, apparently.

Seems like a very strange number of episodes, I guess it's considered an ONA?
Regardless, it's going to be sad saying goodbye to Daima, since this is Toriyama's last involvement with the series... as far as we know, at least... perhaps there were more things in the works behind the scenes that might feature his story and designs, at least I hope we get to see any.

As for what we've seen so far though, it felt more like a Dragon Quest adventure than Dragon ball, with the party of heroes travelling in what feels like a very straight forward "let's finish the demon king" quest. It has been great seeing Goku and friends slapping baddies here and there, but... I couldn't help but notice a lot of strangeness in the events that have been unfolding, things that literally made no sense whatsoever in how the battles have developed. spoiler[At the top of my mind, Goku and Vegeta fight off the Tamagami without really breaking a sweat, but then they have a super tough time fighting off a bunch of soldiers and ships they could've dispatched with a few energy blasts. We can say this was done "for the show and the story", but it's too sloppy... GT at least nerfed Goku's abilities to the point he had a hard time, but the only thing we see here is them having a bit of an annoying time getting used to their shorter limbs, and the different air density in the 3rd demon world, which doesn't explain much if at all as to why they can fight the Tamagami, beings that no one has ever defeated before, while they almost get sent packing by an army of silly gendarmes.]
spoiler[I doubt we'll get answers for what seems more like errors or simple sloppiness in a span of 3 episodes, but I guess we'll at least get some decent animation, because so far, or at least in the first episodes, it was Daima's strongest suit.]

Maybe it's just me?
