There’s some good stuff (Shadow gets a gun!) but also some bad (cringe humor, disappointing Chao Garden portrayal).

I think this is the best trailer they have released for the movie so far. It seems like the filmmakers truly want to replicate some of the most iconic moments of Sonic Adventure 2, the previous Sonic had plenty of references to the games, but they never felt that direct. The only thing that I'm worried is how they're going to deal with Shadow and Maria's backstory, the Sonic games themselves have some issues when it comes to tone and one my issues with these movies are the human subplots, no the ones that involve Eggman/Robotnik, I don't have an issue with those, while I don't have issues with the character of Tom, I found the wedding subplot in the second movie very annoying.
The fact that they made a Pokémon reference caught me off guard, though I can't believe people think that's some sort of reference to a possible Smash Bros. movie Also, I can't believe they gave Shadow a gun, even it's probably some sort of energy gun, I thought they wouldn't want to make a reference to the Shadow the Hedgehog game outside of the character riding a bike. |
