I can't believe 2.5D's out right when it started the arc that made me cry. What a loss.
I'm mildly disappointed that Talker didn't make it, but I'm not surprised. |

There's a handful I voted for that didn't make it in. A couple of those I was on the fence about so I'm not too disappointed.
I would have been interested in seeing TsumaSho get reviewed. I haven't read the source material but it looks like it could go in interesting directions. Season one of Seirei Gensouki got daily streaming reviews so I was hoping season two would as well partly because I am a completionist. Also because I was intrigued by some of the mysteries of the first season and am hoping there will be some interesting payoffs in the second. I voted for Arifureta and Seirei Gensouki neither of which got in but if I could have picked one over the other to get in it probably would have been Seirei Gensouki. Of this season's "villainess" animes I'm disappointed Do-Over Damsel didn't make the cut. I think I would have preferred that over Goes Down in History. Although I voted for both. |

Considering the reviewer for 2.5D has been a constant downer throughout the series I'm not surprised reviews got dropped. It's a shame because I feel the series only continues to get better as it goes along. |

So disappointed that Tower of God got dropped. Don't understand why season 2 is getting a lot of hate. Never read the webtoon but from what I saw, the anime was really good. At least compared to other shows in the summer line up.

A nice list even if I am missing a few fantasy shows I would have liked to be included. I do wonder if there will be a time in the future were more staff is needed since the amount of anime seems to be increasing every year.

RIP TOG, you will be missed.... is what I would say but the series never really manages to step it up especially in the animation department. It just continues to be completely lackluster even at the start of a new arc that all the manwha readers keep hyping up. Aside from that, the new OP & ED definitely feel like a step down from the previous ones. To think that was one of the few things I could compliment about S2 but now even thats gone. I could still end up growing on the new OP/ED like any other but it aint there yet for me.
Oh I guess all the shows I'm watching made it in except TOG. Not a surprising result I suppose. I dont think there's really anything this season I'm checking out that could be considered very niche. |

Of the 50 series in the Preview Guide, 27 failed to make the cut:

Of the series that did make the cut here, the least popular ones on MAL are:
Which is about in line with what we've seen in previous seasons -- the MAL numbers favoring shonen sequels and Narou-kei in comparison to here, and the streaming anime picks favoring material with a more shoujo bent, most notably the three different magical girl series Lynzee mentioned. Once the Your Anime Rankings charts start, we'll be able to see what the second tier is, the shows that weren't popular enough to get reviews but still get enough votes to be scored on the charts. (Five shows that are getting reviews weren't in the preview guide, because they're continuing series or hadn't premiered yet when the poll went up: Monogatari, Uzumaki, Fairy Tail, One Piece, and Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.) The preview guide didn’t have all the shows airing this season listed. The Blue Wolves of Mibu begins on October 19. Also, Steve Jones is reviewing Negative Positive Angler. |

It's pretty disappointing to see the first two being among the least popular, though. They're great series. People really need to give shoujo a chance. |

Besides the fishing one {forgot the name) , 6 out 7 of my picks made the list! This is the best I've ever done.
Magical Girl fans are eating good this season! I love it! As someone said earlier what will ANN do about One Piece? I think it might be better to do a season review for the Fishman Island Arc "Kai" instead of a episode by episode approach. |
