Not to be a wise-ass but is El Shaddai really that famous of a work?

I know there was some buzz around the game back in the day when it was first shown off. But ultimately not going on to become a killer app once it came out.

It's one of those games where if you're really into the lore in the Shin Megami Tensei "God? I've killed lots of them!" sort of way, it's honestly worth the look if you catch it on sale. One of the player reviews really catches the tone:

Quote:
This game's basically what you'd get if the guys who made Shin Megami Tensei decided to make a game that's essentially a highly-religious take on Devil May Cry 3 with the exact same humor and action direction with significantly more nonsense.

It seems like the bulk of its fame is because of how big that meme was in Japan back at the time. But, it probably didn't hurt that the game itself is actually pretty good. (Although it seems as far as anyone can tell, it only sold OK and hopes for spin-offs, a movie, etc never happened)

The timing feels a bit late (the Switch port came out this past April), but I guess someone at Cup Noodle really wanted to do it.

Funny thing is I knew about the port but I thought that port came out last year. And three years earlier a PC port
