Netflix hasn't uploaded an English-dubbed trailer yet? Here in Latin America they already uploaded a Neutral Spanish dub trailer, and the reception was, kind of mixed. Akane, Kasumi and Soun were voiced by their original VAs from the 90s anime, but Ranma and "Ranko" have new voices, in the trailer Ranma was dubbed by Elliot Leguizamo (Soul Eater Evans) and Ranko was voiced by Alicia Vélez (Noelle Silva from Black Clover, F.F. in Stone Ocean, Hinata Tachibana from Tokyo Revengers). Now, this isn't the first time Ranma ½ LA Spanish cast suffered voice changes, the dub of the OVAs and movies had a different voice cast (except for Ukyo and Cologne), but people were hoping that most of the original cast would come back. Though I also saw some comments mentioning that Rossy Aguirre as Akane sounds rougher than before, which makes sense considering that she last voiced her more than 25 years ago, but Kasumi and Soun sound almost how they did back in the day. Also, Nabiki has a new voice, but in the original series she had three different VAs and I think all of them are retired, so I understand the change. Genma has a new voice, but that's also understandable since his original dub VA, Alejandro Illescas, passed away 20 years ago. Shampoo will need a new voice since both the VA who dubbed her in the show, Araceli de León, and the VA who dubbed her in the OVAs, Mónica Villaseñor, have passed away.
I wonder if the original VAs for Ryoga, Ukyo, Cologne, Mousse, Kuno and Kodachi will come back in the LA Spanish dub.

Man, the nostalgia is killing. I suddenly remember Ranma was quite a punch magnet in the series. The whole sit down from Inuyasha seems like pacifism in comparison.

Speaking of nostalgia, I wonder if there's any chance that Netflix & Viz Media will get the original 90's series on Netflix to cross-promote the new series? I mean I would love to continue finishing off watching the 90's series (I have to put it on pause), I would go back watching the 90's series if they made it available on Netflix.

Seeing the original seiyuu playing their characters again is kind of amazing.

It will be real interesting to see who they get for the English dub. Most if not all the first cast doesn't do it anymore and at least one of them is dead to my knowledge. It was also a Canada production.

Well Netflix means a union dub, but this isn’t a Cyberpunk level big deal where they can grab a Giancarlo Esposito to play a role like that did.

Can't help but feel like the remake died before it even began.

A lot of 'em don't even work in the industry anymore. The dub was during the early generation when dubbing was a side-gig to a career in live-action or theater. Venus Terzo (female Ranma), Richard Ian Cox (male Ranma), Kelly Sheridan (Ukyo), and Cathy Weseluck (Shampoo) are barely one of the few remaining in the industry. Myriam Sirois (Akane) has been a flight attendant for almost 2 decades (which is kinda ironic because she said she wanted to do acting forever). Others retired or moved on

Maybe it's just my perspective but batch release anime from Netflix don't get a lot of discussion in English anyway so the leaks probably didn't hurt it much in the long run compared to if it was airing weekly and people were already 13 episodes ahead.

If you don't mind it subbed and with ads, Prime has it on their FreeVee channel. Unfortunately, I think that means the English dub won't be on Netflix anytime soon. Crying or Very sad
I tried it, and I watch an ep when I get really bored, but I really prefer the dub.

We have evidence of social media vs viewer totals as per Netflix’s own publicly released viewership data, namely that anime does well for them, hence the continued investment into the medium. That being said, it was clear that social media engagement was much higher for the shows they decided to release week to week, with Delicious in Dungeon being the most recent example of that consistent engagement.

I don’t know about this remake to be honest. I presume it will get the attention of the local Japanese audience, but without a big dub presence, I don’t know if it will get the attention of the Western audience. It’s a coin flip.

If by Western you mean the U.S. I don't know if Ranma ½'s remake is going to perform there, I'm not sure how popular was the original series, but here in Latin America there's a lot of discussion surrounding this new version. As I said in my first comment, Netflix uploaded the Neutral Spanish dub trailer and it has over twenty thousand likes in Facebook and the YouTube upload has over 100k views as of now, and that's not taking into acount the indivudual reposts and mention in all social media, Ranma ½ was a very big show here in Latin America, so I'm quite sure the remake will do well, though most of the discussion now among the Spanish-speaking Latin American fandom is that Ranma and female Ranma aren't voiced by their original dub VAs despite both of them being available, while Akane, Kasumi and Soun kept their original voices. Latin American fans take dub voice acting quite serious when it comes to legacy works, there was a minor uproar over Sailor Moon Cosmos' dub in regards to a couple of voices

This remake looks the exact same as the original series, so I'm feeling like, for me personally, there's no point in watching it.

Presumably it won't have all the filler the original anime had which may be appealing to some people.

Am excited to give it a watch with friends, but there's that random panty line in the trailer there that rips the vinyl player & makes me think twice about showing this off to family. Any nudity isn't an issue, it's the random perving that's cringe.
