Given how rushed and terrible the pacing of the first season was it's probably for the best they didn't try to rush through Alabasta in an episode or two. They're adapting less chapters this time around so maybe it won't be as rushed.

So, uh, about this ...
First off, I'm glad this resolved my early worries about them cramming all the way till Arabasta in only 8 episodes. What I'm worried is, casual viewers/big reviewers will call this season spoiler[ "filler season" the same way they called House of The Dragon S2, because not that much happened in this season, mainly just set up for pay off big fights in Arabasta/Season 3.] I don't want to doomposting, so I'm gonna positive thinking that it won't results to cancellation after 2 seasons, hopefully, higher-ups in Netflix know that this season is spoiler[ mainly just set ups ] and not expecting the hours of views to skyrocketing from season 1. That's all. Let's be positive and patiently waiting! |

I don’t think this was ever officially confirmed, but an actor hinted a few months ago that they would be filming seasons two and three back-to-back, which would make sense considering the large amount of cast overlap. Best to just film everything while all the actors are around than worry about scheduling later. |

You definitely need a reminder about what happened in Logue Town, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden and Drum Island if you genuinely think that people will think negatively about this season. The content is arguably more exciting from a live action perspective compared to S1. Big creatures, more mystery, unique characters and outlandish fights. |

I was expecting the season to adapt through to the end of Alabasta as that marks the conclusion of Vivi's narrative arc (with some condensing of the earlier arcs to compensate). Even though they haven't said so publicly, I hope that Netflix have already green-lit a Season 3 because if the series gets cancelled here, it will be at a really unsatisfying point.
I wonder if Wapol will be tweaked to tie into the overarching Baroque Works storyline. Perhaps he could be made an associate, who could help get Crocodile accepted by the World Government? |

The fact that a One Piece live action is such a success still feels so unreal to me. Before, It's the kind of anime someone would suggest as a joke in a forum about suggestions for a live action adaptation. INcredible.
My only worry is that the lack of action here might alienate new fans and it might sink ratings. |

I belive they did already, many months ago? That's why this decision didn't surprise me, because I was sure they gonna leave Alabasta for the whole 3rd season (or at least most of it, with cliffhanger to Skypiea). |

The right decision. Especially if they get to fast-track S2 "Part 2" or S3 of let´s say 6 episodes to get the other half of the arc done. Movie 8 single-handedly proved that you can´t do Arabasta in 90 minutes. The later added to it 15-minute Whisky Peak prologue kinda works though despite needing another 10 minutes.
Covered will be 5, 5, 9, 15 and 25 chapters. So 59. Last season covered 95 and we saw how much story, characterisation and world-building had to be removed. All 5 upcoming arcs have changing supporting casts and locations. Alabasta itself has 63 chapters but is more manageable and isn´t a revolving door of sets. The co-showrunner said that he would be glad to get to Enies Lobby. The right kind of thinking and in itself ambitious. Netflix or not. Post-Enies Lobby even works as an ending to the story with the cast setting out on their great voyage ever right before they start getting owned arc after arc. The big ticket dream but they need to get whatever the next order will be called green-lit first. They won´t have trouble as long as the show doesn´t bleed viewers. S1 vastly over-performed but audience rendition is more important to Netflix than creating unsustainable products. Don´t stop watching a show after the first 1 or 2 eps to "set it aside" for later as that tanks its release window stonks. Not watching till you have the time is honestly better for its future. |

Slowing down is good. I did enjoy the first season, which says a lot for a live action adaptation. However, it did feel a bit too quick. One Piece is not a quick series as we all know. LOL.
I just hope that it doesn't go the way of many Netflix shows and it gets canceled. I want to see more of this. I want to see Water 7 and Enies Lobby, my favorite bits of the series! |

They're covering less chapters than season 1 did but I wonder what they'll end up cutting as well. I suppose this time around they have the foresight to not skip Laboon or Little Garden like 4Kids did since we know how those come into play later. Assuming they make it that far. I'm not sure how long the actors will be around to still do this.
