I don't know if anyone was expecting a Princess Peach game to sell a couple thousands more units than Dragon's Dogma II or a new Team Ninja game, however seeing the data on Famitsu's site, it seems Nintendo overshipped Peach's game, but the game itself could become an evergreen title. I'm actually more impressed by the fact that the Switch sold 17.945 units than last week, and in fact it sold a couple thousand more units than last year, the Switch is unstoppable.
In some related news, Sony just confirmed that the PlayStation 2 sold in total over 160 million units, instead of 155 million. I don't know why they felt like confirming those numbers, some people are half-joking that they're afraid the Switch is catching up to PS2's numbers, but I don't think video game companies are that petty.

Yep here's hoping that Princess Peach is like Pikmin 4. Seems like another Kirby and Starfy kind of title where while the main game is easy, it's got legs after that.

If we’re talking game difficulty, some full stage clears I’ve done so far have at least taken more tries than me killing my first Drake in Dragon’s Dogma 2, meaning more than 1 since I actually enter into the game’s fail state.

(But I think those fights largely depend on the build you’re running at the time and whether or not you have something that can actually hit the heart consistently… Some stuff I have is really busted and fun)

That said, I feel like the actual difficult mainstream title to come out recently was Rise of Ronin.

That game absolutely busts your balls on a fresh save file on the hardest difficulty. None of the other stuff I’m currently playing (like the Stellar Blade demo, whose final game… might end up being better than MGS Revengeance from a mechanical standpoint, as crazy as it sounds) even comes close. Ronin’s general enemy patterns and the seemingly tight windows for the parry, which is a move that doesn’t OS into something safe, makes for a rage inducing experience and it’s kind of sad that no one is talking about this one.

I’m honestly wondering if I’m doing something wrong given how hard everything has been so far.

Kinda wish Sony or whoever is responsible didn’t drop the ball on this one in terms of release schedule since it seems like Team Ninja was giving this one their all.

I’m only even playing because DD2 fried my PC, but, to be fair, this is coming in from like a combined 300+ hours of gaming from the last 2 months.

That said, the Peach game is great. I got a costume with exposed midriff and it exceeded my high expectations of what it would be.

The actual game is also great and comes with a lot variety, but while still feeling like a unified product. My only complaint is that I want to skip a lot of cutscenes after the first time since I’m just there to collect the doodads at that point, but the engine seemingly doesn’t allow it.

RotR did better than expected, but preorders were increasing at 1 specific place days before release that it became on par with DD2 so I expected it to be close to DD2.

As usual, where do you get your news from? Because there's no way anyone reporting that news would have left out the FACT that it was Jim Ryan's LAST DAY at PlayStation and that he was asked a series of questions for each decade he was at PlayStation. On the PlayStation Podcast, the interviewer asked him what came to mind about the 2000's. Jim said the PS2 selling 160m was a high watermark. While the PS2 didn't sell "160m" in the 2000's, but rather 2010's, it released in 2000, so that's why he brought up the PS2.

Jim Ryan is the person who announced the PS5 hardware sales at 10, 30, 40, 50m. As the President and CEO, he has access to the hardware sales numbers and yet people who have never worked at Sony nor held a high ranking position there would question it or make up a false narrative. And before someone brings up Jim being asked about the 2010's and incorrectly saying the birth of Uncharted, Uncharted is a series that didn't sell 10m until U4 on PS4. Uncharted is miniscule compared to remembering that the PS2 sold 160m. For all we know, Jim confused U4 breaking records for the series by selling over 10m for the 1st time. PS4 was the system where many 1st and 3rd party series that started on PS2/3 had their breakout. In regards to 1st party, selling over 10m. In regards to 3rd party, NieR: Automata, Persona 5, Ryu ga Gotoku (overseas), and many more had their breakout from niche (the bar for DOD/NieR was 500k WW historically and Persona reached over 1m with WW numbers included) to 5 million sellers. As for Ryu ga Gotoku, Sega never revealed numbers, but word of mouth for the series showed it was popular because it was dead before the release of RGG0 on PS4.
