Am really on the fence about this. I'd kill for more Final Fantasy Tactics, I really like Fire Emblem Three Houses & older, but I just cant get excited looking at how the gameplay is presented on this one. Now that there's a combat video I may give a serious sitdown and try to convince myself to give the game a fair shake, but the every time they advertise Unicorn I cant help but feel like I'd rather be seeing a PC or Switch port of Dragon's Crown with proper online co-op. Or just a straight-up Dragon's Crown 2 would be nice with like 4x the stuff to do. I really need to give the demo for this a full assessment because I'm really on the fence with this one.

The demo lets you play for 8 hours and you can carry your progress over.
I was also on the fence about whether or not I'd dig this style. Note: You DO NOT have direct control over turn based actions like in the games you mentioned. And it is a bit menu-heavy.
I played for awhile, and it wasn't too bad. It's basically about pre-thinking your unit's arrangements and tactics BEFORE you set foot on the field, but you have other options while in battle as well.
The art is beautiful, the story pretty decent so far, and it's got quite an addicting loop and you're always unlocking new things and new areas and exploring it all really keep you going.
If the combat still isn't your thing, I recommend playing it on easy STORY mode just to enjoy the game without too much hassle, though there are some moments where you do have to be careful and not pick off more than you can chew.
So give the demo a shot. I was skeptical, but it worked to convince me and I'll pick this up on release date.

Both? Both. Both is good. Hell, it’s also throwing in a little Final Fantasy XII with a straight-up gambit system.

If you have not played it already, I recommend Tactics Ogre: Reborn. It is probably the closest game I can think of to the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

Makes sense as they were directed and written by the same guy.

A heads up to PS4 owners in the West.
Tried to pre order the game, but it turns out that there is no physical PS4 release in NA, or the UK/EU either, I think.
Asia has a supported physical PS4 release, but other than that the only physical releases are for PS5, Switch and Xbox.
That sucks... and I'm confused as to why. But if I can't easily pick up the game physically for PS4, it'll have to wait until I finally get a PS5, which may be over a year away.
