SAO is terrible and nearly all the characters especially the main ones are totally detestable. GGO otoh is the complete opposite. This is more good news after Ruridragon.

SAO is great and so is GGO, glad we're finally getting another season.

I know its unlikely, but I would like to see LLENN and her friends to meet Kirito and his friends outside of Fatal Bullet. Still, happy to see AGGO is getting a second season.

I can't believe people are still doing "SAO is terrible" takes in the year of our lord 2024. I swear once you've heard one criticism of SAO you've heard them all, and I'm by no means a fan of it. |

Yet the movies made bank and the first 2 had high rotten tomatoes critics scores. Tensura has higher mal scores than sao yet the movie is certified rotten on rotten tomatoes and underperformed despite a wider release.
That is because sao is an older anime so recency bias applies. It doesn't apply to what film critics say. Check box office for ordinal scale and tensura. You can just feel thr massive difference between the two. |

Ordinal scale has 100% critics fresh on rotten tomatoes. Progressive 80% critic fresh on rotten tomatoes. Meanwhile tensura scarlet bond has 53% rotten on rotten tomatoes. |

One of the few things I've enjoyed from SAO (Others: Mother's Rosario, Progressive movies), really looking forward to it. Never thought it would get a sequel. Wonder if this could become another series that gets a complete anime adaptation as it's more common these days when it used to be almost unheard of.
Can't tell you how many anime I've seen where the art, animation, and OST were fantastic, but everything else wasn't, so I was unable to care about what was going on.
There are good things that made a lot of money and bad things that made little money. Likewise, there are bad things that made a lot of money, and good things that didn't make much money. |

SAO is a divisive series. Some folks like it,’others loathe it. I haven’t seen it all, but the episodes I’ve seen range from silly and cute, to dark and disturbing. I got into dot hack, but need to give this one a shot. I did like this spin-off, though.
The first season got an expensive Aniplex release, split in two volumes. So I’m sure the second season will get the same treatment. If you have a region free blu-ray player, you can import the UK release at a lower price. |

SAO got so big because it's idea was fresh way back then. There were only a few similar. The problem I have with SAO is the author's George Lucas Complex. He has to rewrite the story everytime something is released. He released the original story, that ended up too big for the contest he wanted to enter. Then he went and added side stories in such away that they could be shoehorned back into the original now too short story since it wasn't stuck to contest limits. Then he decided to tell the actual Aincrad arc with the progressive story line. But he could not follow his original story because it skipped the female lead for most Aincrad. So he rewrote it into the progressive light novel line we now have (8 books as of now). Oh but now we want to make a Progressive movie, and he then rewrites the story again, this time adding in a completely rewritten backstory for Asuna. But back on the topic of the thread, GGO is a great story line so far. I love how this author kept the SAO GGO arc as background info that had already happened and moved the heck on with his own great story. |
