Aww. =(

I was really looking forward to the soundtrack, since Yoshiki from X Japan is supposed to be doing music for the film!

I hadn't heard anything for a while, and normally whne you don't hear stuff on news sites as something eeks closer to it's announced due date, it's bad thing.

But an announcement like this is a good thing ,especially if they screened test footage. Hopefully taking more time to animate it will mean better animation when it is released. It'd be great if an anime company here could import the film as well.... we need more R1 RoV dvd's :)

Also, isn't the 1990 anime movie a compilation film?

Has the creator of RoV gone apeshit again by chance? About some animated models cosplaying as her manga characters?

Yamashita confirmed Toei Animation's interest in bringing more anime onto free, over-the-air television broadcasts in Latin America, as opposed to cable television.

Much like the Car Industry, we Americans get screwed again.

*sniff* Maybe in the meantime they can make an Oniisama E movie... no... maybe not. That is way too much suicide and drug popping to fit into two hours. Smile

Ugh, I feel like I've already been waiting forever. Seeing the "Teaser" trailer stuff earlier this year didn't help my patience at all. I just hope with how long they're making us wait, it's going to be bloody FANTASTIC.

I'm also going to ignore the fact that NOTHING of this series has ever been licensed here. No idea if anyone would even bother licensing the movie here, but I HOPE it'll renew interest in maybe a sub only release of the original series on DVD, if the movie gets here at all.

Well, at least there will be this and Watchmen at around the same time. That's two movies to look foreward to in one year (a new personal record.)

The manga artist doesn't want any of the anime to be released here before the manga is. I think she also would want it to be released as "big" in the US as her works are in Japan. As I think we all know that's a farfetched idea (at best), you're likely going to have to do without I'm afraid.

Basically, yeah. The voices are mostly all new versus the TV series though.

Aww man, so that's why IA couldn't get it? Makes it super unlikely that anyone ever can. Darn!!

That, and I'd assume it'd cost an arm and a leg. I mean, it's continually getting new things: stage plays, movies, panchinko machines, etc. The series IA seem to be getting have lost their immediacy in Japan, and therefore would likely be cheap to license. RoV, on the other hand, never really went away. But I'm just making a guess here. Even if someone wanted to license the manga (I'd hope for CMX since they're licensing the old and excellent Swan), I'd think the licensing cost would be prohibitive for the same reasons as the anime.

...Let's say that end of 2009 is the reasonable date for the japanese release... you won't see it before that date, unless you work for TOEI's team.

Yes, but only released in France.

I believe that the French editions were also available in Quebec, since I know someone who owns them. I keep debating whether I still know enough French to be able to understand it myself.
