It's not quite over the uncanny valley yet, but it's getting there. Slowly, but surely.

I expect this to be a lot more common in the future. Only last week Oi Ocha, a beverage company in Japan, in lieu of the Johnny's scandal, introduced ads using AI models instead of human presenters;

I think adspace in particular has great potential to benefit from this early stage of development in this field.

Reminds me of that one Project Milo thing Xbox tried to push years ago, only this looks like it's actually real.

So, a more realistic Hatsune Miku, without the singing and dancing?

I mean, the tech is kind of cool, but honestly, I prefer my AI avatars to look a little less human, rather than more.

I feel like some aspects of the model, like the eye color and mouth shape, were purposely made to make her look not quite human. Not 'uncanny valley', but rather 'you couldn't find a real human like that'. The result is, well, kind of weird.

Anybody here read William Gibson's "Idoru" (1997)? Oh was that book quite on point or what? We're only lacking the actual AI.

Macross Plus also comes to mind, but the premises are rather distinct.

...not creepy at all.

Something 99.99999% of animators fail to grasp is that movement by living creatures is not smooth and slow. It's jerky and fast. Just watch a real person walk and gesture, and compare that to this AI girl. Very unnatural movement.

I absolutely expected toei to pivot into "generative ai". I'm not shocked, but I continue to be disappointed.
