I think it's something like Twitter.

Ah yes, just what the world needs... another social media platform.

It's like Twitter but the owner is sane. |

Would love to see you on Threads and Mastodon too. Mastodon even has an API, so cross-posting tools should work for it just fine.

Doesn't bluesky run any images on its site through AI generators?

That's nice. I'll never create an account or use it though. I already have Twitter and only use it to follow anime news and release delays.

I'll toss out another recommendation for Mastodon (or any other Fediverse client). It's nice to see people moving away from Twitter, but I've got no desire to move to another platform with even fewer features just because it's owned by a different set of billionaires.

For those wondering what Bluesky is...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluesky_Social The tl;dr is it was started up by Jack Dorsey after he left Twitter and it's very similar to Twitter. He later left the site. It's currently invite-only. A large amount of AniTwitter is currently on there. There are various features that are currently missing from Twitter, such as DMs, gifs, trends, hashtags (they don't do anything like on Twitter), and videos. Also not many Brands (TM) or politicians are on there. It's the main alternative people are fleeing to as Elon Musk continues to make Twitter even worse than the prior to regimes (Parag Agrawal and Jack Dorsey). It had its biggest day of sign-ups ever when it was floated Elon Musk considered charging everyone to use Twitter, and it always trends whenever he says something stupid he may do (Ex: Removing the block feature except for DMs, requiring people to give their face and eye scans for verification, etc.). |

The real problem with these sites is they're only made and focused on by people who essentially base their lives on politics. Bluesky is basically like Gab or Truth Social, but for left-leaning people instead of Christians or Trump voters. Basically, it's another social media platform for people who leave Twitter/X because of political reasons so you're really only going to get political-focused content on these sites while all the regular people who use social media for non-polital things will stay put. Those kinds of sites never take off because you need regular people to make a site like that worth using and being on, not just political content. Bluesky is even arguably worse than other sites like it because Bluesky is currently invite-only which makes it even more hyperfocused on a specific clique of users who invite their friends. |

ROTFLMAO No, it doesn't work that way. Not. Even. Close. You only see "only political content" only if you don't follow anything but political content.
Dude, there's over a million people registered on Bluesky. It's not focused (let alone "hyper"focused), and it's nothing that anyone sane and sober would think of as a "clique". |

Nah man, you can find plenty of non-"left wing" posters on there. People are leaving twitter because the site has gotten actively, measurably worse since the change in ownership, and keeps introducing new changes that either degrade existing features or strip them away entirely. The biggest sign up dates for Bluesky have come when the site was completely broken (Rate Limited Exceeded and the following weeks of instability) and when it was floated to make all of Twitter a paid service. The reason people go to Bluesky is because it's the easiest to adapt to since it's aesthetically identical to Twitter, has an already centralized instance compared to Mastodon, and has a personally curated linear timeline that Threads launched without. |

Same. I pretty much only use X to follow anime news and Japanese artists and media since it's their preferred way to communicate and relay news. Most of Japan doesn't use any of these alternative sites so they're not much use to me. |

Same although I used Threads as my other non-Twitter/X social media feed. I would like to see ANN make a presence on Threads if that is possible. |
