Incredibly excited for this. Strange Fake is responsible for like 50% of my continued interest in Type-Moon. Hard to believe it started as an April Fool's thing.
I wonder if this means that the LNs will actually wrap up within the next year or so. If not, then the anime will have to end on a cliffhanger, because FSF is basically one long, escalating string of them.

Where would someone place this in the timeline? I know that there are parallel universes but I'm just curious.

I'm getting pretty tired of Fate stuff, but this does sound like an interesting take on it so, ehh, why not, I'll check it out.

Technically - after all the main series outside FGO (and couple of years from FSN), but considering how weird Fate multiverse is - better to just say that FSF is on it's own.

IMO, the only stuff you need to watch before this are fate/zero and stay/night (any route). Case files of el melloi, Apocrypha and Babylonia are optional.

Well, Babylonia and Apocrypha sure are - but can't say that about Case Files, considering how much the cast of it plays role in FSF.

Just finished watching the special on CR and really looking forward to the actual series (helps that I've heard such good word of mouth over the years). I know the books aren't quite finished yet, but hopefully they're relatively close to wrapping up?
On the dub side of things since that's the language track available right now, while there's a little bit of stiltedness here and there (sort of typical with early Fate episodes - mainly due to a lot of lore dumping and not much wiggle room to change things up), it's really neat to see them use a mix of LA and TX talent here, the latter of which being very rare for the Fate franchise pretty much since Zero. Also always fun to hear actors get to play outside their typical box (namely Jester's as-of-now unconfirmed but instantly recognizable VA).

Almost all Fate series at least technically occupy their own timelines, but FSF takes place after some version of Stay Night. The only crossover of actual characters is with Case Files, though. It's full of nods to other Type-Moon things as well, but you don't need to know any of those to get what's going on.

Yup, I had a feeling this would happen. I wonder if the special was delayed from December 2022 because they needed more time to work on the anime.

I wonder how well this will adapt with such a large percentage of the word count being internal monologging and exposition. I think there will either be some very still episodes, or some very confused secondary viewers.
It is quite a good read overall. The only thing that irks me is Narita's need to reference other Type Moon works as a way to justify his own plot, like he doesn't have the confidence to just make something happen and needs to establish precedent so he won't get in trouble for not following the rules(lol). But if you like a bit of "hey, remember X?" you're in for a good time.
Also I hope they keep Kana Ueda as Ishtar, even if there's no real reason to. I'm just going to choose to believe that because Space Ishtar isn't a pseudo servant but is still Rin, means that Ishtar is now eternally tied to Rin.

Having now watched the dub too, I am annoyed—but not surprised—that Aniplex has once again given all the British people in London (and Flat, who's from Monaco, iirc) American accents. It was a dropped ball in Case Files, and it's a dropped ball here. (And really in Zero too, since Waver and Kayneth were canonically speaking English the whole time.)
The special seems like one of the better Aniplex translations, although it still does that thing where they pick translations for some words that are technically correct in a vacuum but not actually quite right in context (nowhere near as bad as, say, the "universe"/"outer space" confusion in Pretty Boy Detective Club, though). Of course, it could always fall off a cliff like the FGO Babylonia subtitles did in the last third.

I think the FSF manga did a decent job of balancing that, so I doubt we have too much to worry about. Of course, we could always get another Apocrypha situation, where it's literally impossible to know what actually happened in some of the fights unless you've read the novels. On the balance, missing some exposition would probably be better than constant lore dumps.

Great news! I hoped so. All that is left is remake of Saber route and Tsukihime remake!

It takes place after Fate/Stay Night, either the Fate route or Unlimited Blade Works. Canonically after those two routes Waver successfully dismantles the grail system so the Wars are done for good. Illya shuts down the grail in Heaven's Feel.
But in FSF Waver is unable to dismantle it, leading to the system being copied for the Snowfield war.
I know the story started a long time ago, but it's interesting to see how it fits into the current political climate, what with the corrupt cops and a group of Native Americans wanting to take their land back.
