It feels so wrong not hearing Mayumi Tanaka as Ryuunosuke.

Sounds like Yuuki Kaji as Tobimaro.

Even in the original I never liked Ten. I hope Aoi Yuki could win me over.

Shigeru Chiba voices Buggy in One Piece. Imagine if Mayumi Tanaka got to reprise her role as Ryuunosuke, it would be a funny casting gag for sure.

Oh Aoi Yuuki is going to be an amazing Ten, I’ve been waiting all season to see who would be voicing him and I’m not disappointed.
And Shigeru Chiba returning to voice the worst dad ever is really funny, I’m glad they were able to bring him back for the remake since Megane (as he was in the 80’s anyway) can’t return.

One of the major improvements i had seen with this series was the lack of Ten, that little brat was so annoying back in the original series, it was fun while it lasted Anime hyper.

Someone that integral, for better or for worse to the original will definitely show in a remake that’s been pretty on the nose about replicating the look and feel of said original.

I have not seen the original urusei yatsura but I’m currently watching the remake and am really enjoying it. For those that have seen the original is it worth watching with the remake out?

I was wondering if they'd manage to fit Aoi Yuki into things. They've been executing things so well so far that I think Ten will come across well...

And Shigeru Chiba! And Ayahi Takagaki!

The new Opening sounds solid. Not quite an earworm, but still fun to listen too.

I definitely believe so! The remake is different enough from the original that make both worth watching. This new version has changed the order in which the characters are introduced and in some cases, are introduced in a different way. One of the biggest differences is that Kurama, Bentren, and Oyuki are all introduced before Mendou appears instead of after with Kurama appearing three or four times before Mendou.

I agree. I not in Ten camp either. It has been maybe four decades plus since last time I read a YT manga but I thought he was alter in series than original anime.

I wonder why Mayumi Tanaka is not reprising her role, it's not like she has retired or anything. Wasn't it one of hear earliest roles as well.

Interesting! I was under the belief that this remake was pretty much the same as the original but I’m glad to know that’s not the case, will definitely check out the original when I can.

Guess my fantasy of Megumi Hayashibara as Ryunosuke wasn't meant to be. Ah, well.

Tanaka actually wants to retire. She wants Luffy to be her final role.

Probably for the same reasons why the didn't have Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano didn't reprise their roles as Ataru and Lum or any of the other voice actors from the original show.
