This news made headlines today.

I think Blazblue was popular in its heyday but it's probably too politically incorrect to exist nowadays. Probably why it's laid in dormancy since GG just took over. Maybe Mori was just fed up with it?

I doubt it has anything to do with that. He probably left because Alternative Darkwar was a complete flop and lost Arc System Works a lot of money when it shut down less than a year after launch. He was either really depressed after that or ASW wasn't letting him handle any projects anymore so he decided to retire.

I loved BlazBlue so this is sad news.

I'm not very familiar with BlazBlue or ArcSys games in general, I'm more of a Capcom and SNK fan. What do you mean by saying BlazBlue is too politically incorrect? Guilty Gear Strive: got a lot of positive reception for having diverse and inclusive characters in its roster.

Wow bruv… youre so off mark youre on the moon.

Congrats for beating the Artemis program.

Blazeblue is out of vogue cause its out of Vogue.

I made some comments about Bridget being my BB Taokaka and the group didn't even know what it was or that it even existed anymore, thats how obscure it is now.

Dont get me wrong, its a great FG, but I haven’t picked it up personally in a decade.

Aside from his comments.

BlazBlue was kinda just a thot fighter like DoD.

It was good and equally ridiculous but but to call it politically correct, its like, where? Where is that? Blazeblu is lote character conservative that Gear

blaz.blue was not the game arcsys wanted to make. there was a mess back then with who owned arcus and their ips because of Sega and atlus and probably even worse things.

so arcsys decided to create blaze.blue as they were not able to work on guilty gear, but later they got guilty gear again in some.lanner so black blue was left to die.

I will miss Blazeblue dearly since it is my favorite fighting game series by far. Looks like its definitely gonna be all about GG from here on out which is just sad.

A real shame, cause I love the BB.

I don’t think there’s gonna be a new BB anytime soon, now that GG is doing so well, which is sad.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy GG, but I personally prefer BB.

Based,

The game was a strange outlier when guilty gear was so popular.
Most of the characters were just remixed GG characters with different hitboxes and some fun animations.

A lot of things are considered politically incorrect these days. When Baiken was announced for Strive you had people complaining about her bust size and doing the whole "I thought gaming grew up and stopped pandering to teenage boys *sigh*" It doesn't take much to set people off anymore. And let's be honest, up until a couple months ago the general consensus on Bridget was negative from the more progressive crowd given the trap memes and fanbase of the character. Things may be different now but up until a few months ago it was a whole different fanbase liking Bridget.

In general fighting games have been hit hard with the trend of chasing global standards. Things like EVO really caused a lot of modern ones to be toned down in order to chase the esports dollars. Even DoA initially did that with 6 until they walked it back after realizing EVO didn't care about them even after they toned everything down. For BlazBlue specifically it's about as anime as you can get. Half naked big breasted women, incest, genderswapped fetish characters, lolis. I'm sure the usual people would find things to complain about it, much like when SnK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy came out in 2018 and got a lot of hate from the mainstream journalists and the FGC crowd who saw it as outdated and sexist. Even if you just look at Strive itself, it's pretty toned down from past entries. If Dizzy ever shows up then I'm expecting they'll continue the trend of modernizing GG characters and probably age her up mentally, cover her up, and make her not act child-like anymore in order to distance itself from the initial fanbase of the character.

Yup. Videogames are global now. Just like 3rd and 4th wave feminism and humanism spreading, we as the human race as collectively learning to.. be less evil, its profound.

People are worried about gender, sex, consent, equality and inequalities, healthcare and war.

Japan, like the west has continued its problematic view of women since the 90s.

Everyone is sick of it, heck, many parents in japan wont even let their kids watch Crayon shin-chan because it pushes bad behaviors.

Much of the anime out right now is also aired late at night because of standards.

People are tired and want to see eachother equally.

Square Enix’s new harvestella is a great example of extreme change, you can pick male female or nom binary and pick between one of two extremely gender ambiguous avatars, even their outfits are galaxy brain designed.

Its a mix of armor and half dress, its all ambitious and ambiguous.

Noone wants negative judgment based on their own personalities snd noome wants to hurt other’s ideals.

GG has a team of people all collectively working together and having conversations. blazblu was not, it was practically hentai.

Just like the creator of DoA having been caught as a harasser and DoA being banned all over the world, DoAExtreme beach volleyball 2 was even not released here cause of the negative press potential, it didn't sell well in Japan either, save for a few male otaku.

People just want people to have fun now at equal amounts.

It's a shame because I was looking forward to like a GG/ Blazblue cross over game ever since I saw ragna vs Sol in death battle both by same company. shame.

You just explained why BlazBlue is better than modern GG.

At least we still have SNK.

Unfortunately, as someone stated:

"As long as there are people, there will always will be war!"

There is something visceral about fighting games that have an attraction. Heck, a lot of everyday people hold the world of martial arts as a mystical and distant place. To some extent, they're not wrong. It takes another level to survive in such a world where everything is decided in only a few seconds and with violence. There is reason however to uphold the honor of such power being used for benevolence than selfish intentions and evil.

I'm not merely talking about to the death extreme fatality mortal combat ultimatums, I'm talking about the nature of competition and even struggle. That is something that will always will be inherent to mankind. That is why fighting games exist. That is one reason why video games exist.

While I'm not a fan of machismo douchebag dudebro fatheaded mentalities, I also garner suspicion at fine talking slick worded utopian ideals that hint at trading mankind's free will and unpredictability for complacency and comfort. No one wants their lives to be neither The Giver or Gathering Blue. But if people are pushed the wrong way and are put in the right circumstances, they will develop the will to fight.

Will mankind evolve away from such mentalities of violence and physical predilection? Maybe, maybe not. That whole thing about sexy females in fighting games/anime isn't wrong either, your survival instinct is also tied to your subconscious and your libido, for one. I do also know that if people aren't intune with nature, be it the outdoors or their own connection with their humanity, they go crazy. Personally, I don't think this will go away. Life tends to blindside humanity.

I feel you people are getting way too cocky from the Bridget thing.. Japanese gaming is not quite as conquered as you make them out to be as there's plenty of creators who do not care one bit about western standards. It's really is just the fighting game community that had a leash put around its neck. Hell, even if fighting games are all toned down the characters aren't ugly which is a lot more than you can say for anything coming out of America That's one area that's never going to change because of Japanese marketing loving cute characters. No matter how bad it gets, it's never getting to Mortal Kombat levels of character designs.
