I really dislike this new trend of turning main storyline content into films. Screws over the international audiences who have to wait months or a year for the release, and smaller countries where it won't even get into theaters at all.

Good luck to everyone who'll have to wait a year after release while avoiding spoilers the whole time!

That does suck, but in this case a film is probably the right call. This arc was divisive when it was coming out weekly, but when taken as a whole is a really good arc. It probably would have had its issues as an episodic release, but it will work well as a movie.

Actually glad they stuck with a movie, this arc is much better shown in full then in episodes

I kind of figured they'd want to adapt this arc, especially following season 3 and it's ending. Sucks it'll probably be a while before we can watch it.

(I wonder if this kills a chance for season 4 though).

I swear, Mugen Train ruined it for everybody by popularizing making anime films in the middle of TV adaptations. That, and the fact that it's gonna take up to 8 months to watch the movie after its original Japanese release date anywhere else.

It's not gonna matter much if the better option is a movie since it's very likely it's also gonna get a recut for TV like two Dragon Ball Super movies and the Mugen Train one.

It's very likely the TV recut they will make from this "movie" is season 4.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of this trend of turning canon stories into movies

I would assume that it's related to the decrease in disc sales. Movies, like home media, can bring in money that streaming and TV never does. You have to make money somehow.

Add me to the list of people tired of this trend of canon movie sequels of TV series. Having to wait a year+ avoiding spoilers for what's gonna amount to 90 minutes of content give or take isn't quite my definition of building up hype

Probably the worst part is that Mugen Train wasn't even a particularly good movie. That part of the story only barely worked better as a movie in terms of pacing, but both as a story arc and as an action spectacle it was hardly worth the ticket price

Damn, I was hoping it would be another season. Hopefully the movie at least does well enough to get at least a 4th if not more seasons to follow.

I think there is a pretty good chance that we get this movie on a streaming service pretty soon after JP release.

Will it? Look at made in abyss, they didn't recut it for TV.

But yeah, bummed about those movie with plot, although in this case its comedy and you can't miss a season worth of content and it doesn't change much.

I'm a little surprised to learn that it was divisive, but I guess it makes sense. Maybe it's because I read it in volume form, but I pretty much loved it wholeheartedly -- I might even rank the conversation in chapter 151 above Dual Confessions.

I like the idea that "franchise" movies finally mean anything, no summer adventures where nothing really matters. Unpopular opinion, maybe?

As much as I'd like to see it all animated, this will probably be it with the manga ending. At least it'll be a fitting way to cap it off.
