I really enjoyed this volume of Eureka. I chuckle every time I hear the name "Ray Charles" which has to intentional considering all the other musical references. They are really highlights in the series. They also really remind me of Ranmba Rall and Hamon especially spoiler[when Charles body explodes via bomb] The scene where Ray spoiler[sees her own hand in front of her and tries to crawl towards it was one of the most disturbing scenes in anime. How creepy is it to gain consciousness to see a hand reaching out towards you, only to realize it's your own dismembered arm!]

I find it funny that the low mecha action was listed under negatives since I'm awe get in the film (why would a film made a few years before in a high tech society look so old?) was worth a dozen pointless fight scenes.

My only complaints is that CN aired these episodes so long ago that I feel as though I missed out on the forums and the big Eureka thread since I'm waiting on the DVDs. I had this same problem with Fullmetal Alchemist, Trinity Blood (only by a few months) and currently Blood+. It's bad enough to have two different batches of fans (like Haruhi, or When They Cry) with the Japan and US releases. Having three waves really disjoints the fans.

You have no idea how much I waited for this volume, the last one totally kept me hanging and desperate to know what happens next.

The only thing that got me confused was Talho; spoiler[she just decided to quit being a bitch out of the blue without giving any clue to what had incited her, like the review said; she came to realize that it was time for her to let go of her old ways, but I think they should've explored that a bit, I really like her new look though.]

I also loved the new ending song, my favorite so far in the series, I didn't like the opening as much though rewatching the scene of their reunion really drove me to shed tears of joy when I first whatced it, Renton and Eureka are so cute Anime hyper

Quote:
Curiously, the artistry for the opener looks much rougher than in the rest of the series, while the closer artistry features an unidentified female character.

I believe the two female characters featured in the closer are Eureka and Anemone.

Well, you'll just have to wait until the next DVD to better understand that part. Then it'll make perfect sense.

As far as the review, I disagree with this being the best pacing and plotting in the show, the last ten episodes take that honor for me. For the series standard, it pretty much keeps up this same quality until it ends imo. The only problem was that episode 39, other than that, no complaints.

This and the last volume are definitely the series' peak. Though franklyspoiler[I thought the way they introduced Ray and Charles and then killed them prematurely off was annoying. ] I really liked those two and wished they had stayed around for a bit longer but oh well..

Great batch of episodes. The females in "Tip Taps Tip" are generally obvious, the only one hard to recognize is Gidget, and it is her, writing in the diary. You can see her head visor on the wall. The rest are Talho, Eureka, Anemone, and Maeter on the ends.

The end of the Beams? Very tragic. They weren't even villains. In another time, another place, you could've easily seen them as fellow Gekkostaters.

You didn't touch on it, but Ken-Goh's first VA, the late Bob Papenbrook, died after recording episode 28. From 29 onward, it's Kyle Hebert.

The episodes with Charles and Ray are diffidently so of the best in the series. Also the current ending is by far the best in the series. It’s to bad Eureka is still in loser mode though. I never thought I would come to hate her so much. In the begging she was ok for a Rei clone, but then they had to turn her into a spineless wimp just so Renten could take center stage. I don’t like it when they turn the main female charters into weaklings just to make them more sympathetic to the viewer. I’m sure that with some thought they could find a much better way of accomplishing this if they wanted to.

Volume 7 gets the second season off to a strong start, a standard that it, unfortunately, does not maintain for long.

Shocked What? I thought the entire second half was awesome. The final chunk of episodes was a perfect end for the series. It's now my favorite anime ever (and I've seen ALOT). The Charles and Ray part of the story was great, but I thought everything after that was much better.
Even though I saw it all on AS, I'm definitely gonna buy the whole series (and my Nirvash action figure is coming in the mail!!)

Agreed. Im getting my hands on the DVDs at otakon after seeing it on AS.

These episodes on this DVD are the top of the crop besides the last few. I mean come on! AS had to make a special disclaimer because of these. Thats a mildstone! Anyway I spoiler[hated the way Talho had to explain Eureka's self] the hand thing....was disturbing. If you want disturbing spoiler[ the anti body corallion attacks in future eps]

But i have a question about anenomespoiler[ So is she a man-made corallion? That what my bro explained because she's a bit different from eureka]

spoiler[Plus the episode of the big clean up really touched me because renton and eureka was really lovey dovey. It made me call my BF at the time in the middle of the night to say I love you] Like ep 26 and a bunch in the second season it made me do that. [/spoiler]

But i really miss the sexy talho look. The new talho is okay if you like (warning major spoiler word)spoiler[MILFs]

No one I’ve spoken to likes Talho’s new look except me. I guess more cloths equals a turn off for them. Confused

Even for one who's very used to the sight of scantily-clad females, I found Talho's first look to be an eyesore and just looked plain wrong in a serious show like Eureka Seven, I remember wincing everytime she kneels with her ultra short skirt going down Shocked

Like I mentioned I really like her new look; she looks cuter than before, more sophisticated not to mention more mature. This look did well to signify the change that she decided to undergo.
