Forget cutting people -- that first design is so edgy I started bleeding just looking at it.

Because anime fans aren't stigmatised enough, let's all put on shirts that make us look like violent, unstable psychopaths.

Hard to believe this is from the same site that goes to such lengths to make the forum inclusive and understanding.

To quote a certain red shirt: is this an out of season April fool's joke?

A bit cringey for my taste.

Yeah, no offense, but this stuff looks more like something you'd wear to your high school anime club meeting, not so much as a grown-ass adult.

So cringe. If you want people to feel ashamed of this community, that's the perfect merch.
I don't know who in your marketing team had this awful idea but maybe it's time to replace him.

Echoing the others, not sure this slightly threatening branding is appropriate.

Well, in fairness, seeking to simultaneously induce a cringe and threat response seemed to work well for Weetabix in the eighties.

Normally I love a good shirt with a messed up phrase or image. Like I have a murderous Where's Waldo: Find Him Before He Finds You, and a Fullmetal Alchemist with Nina and her dog doing the fusion pose together need I say more. Even an I'm Not Doing Shit Today shirt for when I don't feel like going out at all (it kinda shrunk so I don't wear it that often).

But this tshirt just flatout sounds like you're threatening somebody. There's no clever wordplay like that CDO OCD shirt or anything, it's just a declaration of obsession for a hobby that you're willing to inflict physical violence on another person simply for the act of human contact, thus inspiring avoidance from yourself which is often the opposite purpose of wearing a "funny" shirt. Total fail at marketing.

That doesn't apply to me; I let people borrow my anime all the time. xD

Mine's more likely to read "I'll Cut You if You Diss My OTP".

why is western designed anime apparel always so cringe? i see how well design JP anime apparel can be and we get middle school emo shirts.

there are adult anime fans too who want well designed apparel to throw money at .

Yeah no. This merch is some of the cringiest I’ve ever seen, especially that first T-shirt.

Agreed that this new merch is kinda cringey. I'm a picky collector of manga, so the manga-related shirt might have appealed to me, but it's a bit too aggressive.

One of my favorite bits of manga fan merch was a magnet I picked up from the Kyoto Int'l Manga Museum with its mascot character saying "No Manga, No Life." (riffing off of Tower Records' "No Music, No Life.") I'd be down for seeing something along those lines, with a fannish/obsessive but friendlier sentiment, from ANN in the future.

Is it solely the "cut you" design that readers dislike, are the other designs also 'cringey', not interesting, acceptable...? Just trying to gauge some of the feedback.

I find the "cut you" to be a bit much. Then again, I wouldn't want to wear a shirt that said 'hands off my anime collection' at least in public.

As for the others, I'm also personally not keen on the 'super streaming anime club' - it just makes me cringe a little bit.

This is just me but I don't like wearing clothes with words on them. I'm happy with clothes that look like the ANN hoodie.

Totally understand that from the feedback thus far, but would also like to hear about the other designs specifically or if they're also part of the above comments.
