This sounds really interesting, and way outside of Maeda's usual repertoire. I found a lot of his stuff to be hit or miss (I love Clannad, Air, and Kanon, but I hated Day I Became a God and dropped it after two episodes because the pink haired girl was such a huge brat I couldn't stand more of her), but I hope this gets an English release at some point, whether it be physical or digital.

I'm also a big fan of his works, but also not of his recent work (Kamisama) so I would love to read this someday too. I hope he goes back to a more natural approach and backs away from this sci-fi edge that isn't working for his stories.

Unexpected genre shift, but I guess I'm glad Maeda is diversifying his portfolio.

Just a heads-up: the English-translated title as given "The Chief of the Cut-Hunting Tribe" is supposed to be "The Chief of the Cat-Hunting Tribe," just so there isn't any confusion.

@MFrontier- Totally agree! From his recent work I'd say he was in an artistic rut and his creativity could stand to go in new directions like this, just as long as he doesn't go for commercial appeal. BTW, anyone wishing to "sell" a Maeda work should probably stay away from mentioning things like Charlotte and The Day I Became... despite being recent.

Yeah, I am used to Jun's formula by now, and while effective I think the recent projects are limiting themselves. Charlotte's payoff was so bad I didn't even bother with newer projects.

In fact, this is not as unexpected as it seems. He has had near-bisexual characters in the past and in general, Maeda has always liked gay jokes about close friends. Another conversation, this is his first purely yuri work.
