As someone who plays Smash competitively, who can blame them. Nintendo online is absolute garbage.

Weren't they also supposed to be playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2? I guess that won't happen now, seeing as I'm not sure if the servers for it are still online or not.

There is a typo in the article. On the part that says July 25-16, I think it means July 25-26. Just wanted to point this out.

Let's be real, as jank as Nintendo's Online is, even the slightest delay in netcode can cost someone a victory in something as fast past and button input intensive as a figthing game. I don't see these other games going perfectly smoothly either and I'm sure someone will rage about how online lag screwed them over.

Oh most definitely. The whole event is just asking for salt. The buffering and ignored inputs are going to be terrible lol

That may be why all the official Evo games only seem to be getting exhibitions and announcements, instead of open tournaments which is the tradition for Evo. Only the 4 new games, which all have good roll-back netcode, are getting the open tournament treatment.

That's glorious news, the added exhibition of four games with good rollback netcode against the original batch of delay-based and (in the case of SF5) poorly implemented rollback. And Skullgirls, that's just heartwarming.
Nobody believed, but you see it's true.
