RIP
It is fitting that his last appearance in a Lupin entry was called The Last Job.

"At the end of their lives, all men look back and think that their youth was Arcadia."
Appropiately, his final role was one last reprisal of Captain Harlock, even though he himself had said he had retiered from the role. It's almost like a sad omen, really.
May he rest in peace, and may the doors of Arcadia finally open up to him.

This makes SRWT really sad in retrospect given it was his final reprisal of Harlock and Tsujitani's final reprisal of Seabook/Kincaid and the latter was a huge fan of Harlock.

This is particularly sad for me. I'm not a Harlock fan and not the biggest fan of the Lupin franchise, but Goemon is my favorite of the Lupin gang and any blow to that character is a blow to me. RIP, Inoue-san. Another great has left us.

Inoue had a very distinctive voice, and I’d already been missing him ever since he was first replaced as Harlock and Goemon. May he rest in peace.

RIP. I've seen everything Lupin and heard him in the MSG movie trilogy as well.

His last appearance as Goemon was in Lupin Family Line up in 2012. It was noteworthy since Goemon's disguise in that special was voiced by Chikao Ohtsuka who voiced Goemon in the 1971 series before Inoue took over in 1977.

Captain Harlock is one of the most legendary characters in fiction despite going largely underappreciated by most casual anime fans. It's a shame that this man's work will go ignored, but hopefully his death will shine some light onto his work. I really hope this encourages the average ANN member to go through the man's filmography.
