Trinity Blood is still so good to watch today. It's also the first time I got introduced to Troy Baker's dub work.

Definitely Vampire Princess Miyu 1988 for me - for the Hirano/Kakinouchi goodness, and for one of the most beautiful and haunting scores of Kenji Kawai entire career.

Whoa Index III is more popular with ANN folk than even SAO.

Wait, isn't Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun actually shounen? Like, I know it looks shoujo, but I'm it's being serialized in a shounen magazine.

Chose Nana in the poll. A lot of male readers (myself included) appreciate the story’s grit, the punches rarely pulled. It’s just a story of complicated people trying to find something or someone worth holding onto in a world where hardly anyone seems to care; wounded young people navigating an expectant adult world. Then, when someone does come to care—a lover as hopeless as you, another girl you coincidentally bond with on the cold train ride to Tokyo, the lost teenager you’d recognized as starved for real human consideration—it rings especially true. No high school romance fantasies required to enjoy this one.

Is Black Butler not considered goth? Shiki also has a really goth feel to it, though it's set in the present. It's got that fatalistic, death-is-beautiful vibe to it. And surely Diabolik Lovers is goth.

Index 3 with the well-deserved win. Nice to see Goblin Slayer high up too, right underneath the big franchises.

If not for your specific "goth' definition, I would've wondered where was 'Ergo Proxy' for Re-L alone.

I was surprised about that, too. I also expected an appearance from Hell Girl, either Hellsing, Death Note, Shiki, Soul Eater, or Darker Than Black. The Blood the Last Vampire movie and Boogiepop Phantom were also pretty huge with the goth crowd when I was in high school.

That was pretty surprising. Well deserved though imo. SAO peaked already where as the best parts of Index are yet to come. I only wish Index was getting the same number of episodes SAO is getting because man are they going to be rushed like hell.

Yes, for our birth-of-anime generation, AnimEigo's Miyu OVA defined "Goth" for every cosplayer.

At least until Sunako from The Wallflower came along, but not sure if that should be on the same list with Yuuko from xxxHolic.
