IMHO, about equal odds of it being at AX or Comic-Con. And I'd even say Comic-Con would have the edge, just because it's not an anime/manga event exclusively.
And a *slight* - maybe like 5% - outside chance that it's something else entirely, like, say, a thing at the Japan Society in New York.

Ooh, cool. I am hoping it's AX though. It is possible for me to make it to Comic Con but AX is closer to me so I'm hoping that's it. Either way, I'm planning on going to whichever one they go to.

My money's on Comicon. Rumiko Takahashi is really the only other manga guest who's enough of a superstar to be 'too big' for AX and Viz had her at Comicon rather than AX.
Unless CLAMP decides they want to go to Disneyland or Los Angeles, then it'll probably be AX.

Dube,. I love AX! Noone is "too big" for AX.
AX is still the largest and best Anime con in North America.
(For example: They had Tomokazu Seki two years in a row!)
So I wouldn't be suprised if it was AX, because
AX hinted that the biggest guest that they ever had
might be coming to AX '06.

I love AX too, mate, but Rumiko Takahashi was considered too big to attend. Comicon has massively larger attendance and a much broader audience.
I mean. plenty of people are 'too big' for the convention. Hayao Miyazaki, for instance.

Sorry for getting of topic, but...
Who/where did you hear that from?
I'm an active member of AX, and I never
heard anyone saying Takahashi was too big.
Miyazaki was actually on the list of people
AX is looking to it coming to AX '06.
AX said this when ask about Miyazki coming:
"Hehehe. I wouldn't give up hope of that
if I were you. ^_-" SO like I said before,
NOONE is "too big" for AX.

Uh, I don't think it was AX claiming that, man. Of course the convention itself doesn't think that. However, the artist herself and the company representing her might be more interested in a different con that provides more people from a broader range. PR-wise it makes more sense. That's what happened with Takahashi.
And I refuse to think that some vague comments from an AX staff member using anime winky-smileys on an internet forum is evidence at all that I should think Miyazaki would come to an American anime convention. The man doesn't even attend Japanese conventions and has openly decried the state of anime in his native country. It'd be like Steven Spielberg attending a Japanese sci-fi con. The man is far too big, too important and way too much of a respected international celebrity to appear there. Miyazaki's US appearances are generally limited to press events for his films, and he's catered to hand and foot by Disney.
AX can put Jesus Christ on their list of guests they'd like to have attend. Doesn't mean the dude's gonna show up at all.

Interesting news indeed. I'm really glad to hear that they're finally moving forward with X. That manga's been unfinished for too long.

X is continuing...w00tburger with extra cheese.
Can't wait. And speaking of unfinished manga licensed by Viz, anyone know how Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is doing on Eva?

Uh huh... I don't think Comic Con could get him either.
Rumiko Takahashi went to comic con back in 2000, when ax had less then 10,000 attendees. Not a shock that they didn't get her. But AX hasn't really been stagnating you know. Their attendance is about a third of comic con's now, and all concentrated anime and manga fans compaired to the majority of attending klingons, LOTR freaks, marvel/DC nerds, angelina jolie fans, movie buffs etc, which don't give a rats ass about anime... oh yeah and some anime fans too crammed into 5 tiny little rooms at the furthest end of the convention center. Have you watched their masquerade lately. It used to have lots of anime entries, but now it's got next to none. So I doubt it's that far of a stretch for anyone (Big or not) involved in anime to consider ax. After all they got the artdirector for Howl's moving castle. And maybe AX is going for Goro Miyazaki since he and his father aren't seeing eye to eye right now.

You're all assuming that they'll be at a convention at all. Maybe just one of the staff is going to be making a small US tour of several big book stores. That would be the most mainstream way for a company to promote Clamp's manga. If you recall when Puffy AmiYumi toured the US, they went to mainly Record Stores to promote themselves.
