This is one of the reasons that I don't watch things "ironically." It still counts as viewing it for streaming numbers, or a ticket in the theater, or a sale of a disc. Those are the things that the businesses pay attention to, not so much people going online to say they didn't like it. The other reason is that keeping up with things I do like takes up enough of my free time that it seems pretty wasteful for me to spend that time on something I don't genuinely enjoy.

I can see watching something ironically once, but I don’t really get rewatching something like that over and over, even if it was the worst such thing, and I’m not convinced Netflix Death Note reaches that level. I have better things to do with my time than re hate watching shows. Like watching Heybot.

The need for this generation to watch anything "ironically" is the imagined idea that you're laughing behind the creator's back...Poor saps, they don't even KNOW we hipper and more experienced fans are laughing behind their back, do they?

Well, that's it, just said it right there--They don't. It's hipness in a vacuum. "Ha ha, I just threw an imaginary stone at you, and you never even know I did, hurts don't it?"
If we're laughing that the producers or Netflix are living in a delusion that it was good and we liked it, they're only going to see anything that feeds their delusion. Like, y'know, ratings of how many people were tuning in.

Sword Art Online is a good instance of a show getting sequels despite being on the receiving end of sheer negativity from overzealous critics. I think Luna is setting herself up for disappointment here...

I'm not a Death Note fan, I did watch the Netflix movie but I only did so I could spend time with my late mother who was a fan of the franchise (her passing was not unexpected). And have no intention of watching it again.

And I guess I can see how someone sees it as so bad it's good. But claiming you're watching it "ironically" just makes you seem like a jerk. Just admit you think it's so bad it's good and honestly enjoy watching it instead of pulling the hipster defense...

Sometimes watching something that's terrible can be really funny. The dub of Garzey's Wing for example. But that's not exactly the same as watching something "ironically." I'm not convinced anyone truly watches things ironically, because to me consuming entertainment you honestly hate is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I think people just say that because they're afraid of being judged for actually liking something low quality (even if they only like it because it's so bad it's now funny by accident). I don't see any problem with even giving views to objectively bad entertainment. You got enjoyment enough out of it anyways, even if it's bad, so what's the problem with more?

I have respect for people that unapologetically like what they like, like those crazy Love Livers. I ridicule people who do things "ironically" though. That's just "wasting your time", "denial" or "masochism", and I have no respect for those.

Repeat after me: It's ok to have guilty pleasures. (Almost) everyone has a series or a movie or something that other people consider trashy or silly or for kids but they like it anyway. As long as you enjoy it, try not to let other people's opinions get to you. Saying you like something "ironically" feels like an attempt to deflect criticism of your taste.

Hate-watching is a whole 'nother beast. I got through Irresponsible Galaxy Tylor solely to see how much stupider it could get.

Sword Art Online is a good instance of show getting sequels because people genuinely enjoy the series and continue to watch it and buy stuff.

The critics are irrelevant because the public is speaking the only language a business understands - truckloads of sweet, sweet cash.

Affirmative. Smile As long as shows like Sword Art Online continues to get support from its viewers, they'll keep getting more goods and, perhaps, more seasons. Hence, the haters' vocal resentment towards them will have little to no effect in how well it performs financially.

Also, I think the vocal majority of the haters are from the west, not in Japan, so their opinion matters even less.

And the only way their opinion will matter is if anime becomes mainstream which nobody wants.

Constructive feedback for Vice & Luna Smile

The Comic Con story line felt like it was starting to drag, especially from what I remember of that longer arc with Perry and Luna having a conflict.

However, the Comic Con arc ended up being really funny near the end and the recent one offs have been rather fantastic and have had quite clever writing. It feels like the both of you take feedback into consideration and legitimately incorporate it into Vice & Luna.

tl;dr

The comic had some rough spots (in my opinion) but it has been consistently improving and is at a point where it makes me laugh every week.

Sounds like a good (or bad) idea if Luna decided to make an MSTing (Read: riffing in the style of Mystery Science Theater 3000) of the live-action Death Note movie.

It can be seen as watching a show ironically despite realizing how bad it was.

No, that's not how this works.
If you love the show, you watch it.
If you hate the show, you don't watch it.
If you want to piss off the makers of the show you hate, you watch the show on illegal channels to derive them of profits.
