Dammit! I wish they'd stop making me think we're getting more of the anime before ripping my heart out with the realization it's just more of the live action stuff. And no, clearly marking it as "Live Action" isn't good enough!

StarrieNite, in a comment posted in a live action thread on MAL, pointed out that Suetsugu-sensei has spelled out Wagatsuma's first name as いお, as a pronunciation guide for 伊織. Io instead of Iori.
Suetsugu Tweeted the following on April 25, 2017 我妻伊織は「わがつま いお」と読みます。かるたがメッチャ強そう。 https://twitter.com/yuyu2000_0908/status/857041964344107012 |

It's been a while since I've watched the live-action films, but Sumire and company all appeared in the second anime season. So if they are new to the upcoming third movie, what events will that portray? If it really covers the third years for Chihaya and friends, then they must be skipping over the material in the second season of anime entirely. When Chihaya played Shinobu in season two, spoiler[Shinobu took 23 cards and Chihaya just two. True, Chihaya had injured her hand in a prior match, but Shinobu just overpowered her.], so they will have to face off again to "settle the rivalry between Chihaya and Shinobu."
I want a proper twenty-five-episode final anime season for Chihayafuru, but I've accepted that it will never happen. |

As you probably remember, the first two live action films condensed the first year. Events were rewritten and the chronological ordering was changed. The characters as first years were also amalgamations, of the manga versions of themselves combined with traits from other characters omitted for the film adaptation. I think that worked -mostly- and made those two films distinct from the manga and anime in useful ways. The same might happen for the final film. The decision to include a completely new character, to me, signals their intent to make that clear. Signals -up front- that this will be even more different ... and personally I quite like that. Adjusted. That Chihaya and the other original cast members will be in their third year of high school has been confirmed. We don't know if and if so how flashbacks will be incorporated this time around. I find it fascinating that Suetsugu, on her visit to the film set yesterday, drew on a blackboard. Spoiler for image link and a brief description of the depicted characters therein:spoiler[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_OTI-qUAAAfWx8.jpg Depicting a single character we haven't seen before and that character is drawn holding a calligraphy brush.]Speculation on details like that and the anticipation of the final film's roles and story lines is going to be a lot of fun. Based on the way the first two films were crafted I expect to find some panels and entire characters repurposed while other manga elements will no doubt be skipped entirely. Personally I can live with that. A live action TV drama adapting the entire series panel for panel, created to run for a few years, would work for me too. More animated episodes would be welcome for me as well, in addition to this final film. Whichever comes first. One more week before the next chapter. * Added: [March 30 , 2017] above and the following text, plus link, for Suetsugu's original Twitter comment - something about her fervent wish for a third season of the Chihayafuru anime: アニメちはやふるの3期もしつこく待ってます! https://twitter.com/yuyu2000_0908/status/847346915591061505 |
