I'm going to presume that "all of the above" is not a choosable response.

I wish other companies would do this. It'd be nice if they sort of gave fans the "ability" to choose what goodies to include in all new starter sets that are made. All I every really care for, though, are soundtracks (which I put as my answer, by the way ).

Love the series, but absolutely hate the translation, voice acting, character names, and everything else that FUNimation has done to it.
If they just destroy their "translated" version and release the fan-sub version on DVD, I would pay for that.

o_O Why do so many people think fansubs are better than everything? A LOT of them are absolutely filled with inaccuracies...

Wow, not to sound harsh, but what kind of anime fan are you? Doesn't the CC/DC dvd's have subs too? And besides, when a series is licensed, well no more fansubs...buy the DVD's to support them continuing! I don't think they've been faring well with the sales of the CC DVD's...
Personally I'm not the biggest fan, but by "gauging fan interest" I hope they don't really mean "what super-cool crud can we put in to stop people from not buying this". Unfortunately CC/DC is one of those series that straddles the line between content guidlines and interest guidlines in the West, and as a result the potential audience is slim. Shame, really.

Because professionals are inferior to insecure, first-year college kids that take unnecessary liberties with the script in between the numerous mis-translations in order to make themselves feel "big" and "mature." RIGHT.
Let me guess, you're still bitter because of all the insignificant name changes (that never made it into the subtitle script, as I understand it). Or maybe you're just one of those DBZites that's still stuck in 1998? Hell, you anti-FUNi types are almost always the same, so it's bound to be one of those two.

I'll admit, watching the Japanese version and the English version of Detective Conan... er... Case Closed are slightly different experiences, but it's essentially the same show. The name changes can be forgiven, because most of the characters are throw-aways (though the main cast's name changes are a bit of a strange phenomenon, since Shinichi and Ran aren't difficult names to remember, and neither is Koguro) that end up dying horribly.
However, bilingual DVDs are a saving grace here, so if you hate their dub (as I hate their horrible FMA dub), and you're a big fan of the show, you can buy those.
I haven't bought any Case Closed DVDs because it's the kind of show that has so many episodes (and it's still going) that it overwhelms me just thinking about it.
You know how they could really gauge my fan interest? By sending me a free boxset.

Last year I taped Cona-- er, Case Closed every night. It was my morning ritual to watch the episode over breakfast. Good crap.
The character name changes don't bother me (though the reaally out-there ones, like calling a clearly extremely dark-skinned person O'Reilly, do make me chuckle) but the place name changes bother me a lot. Often there are real places that real people (like, dur, me) have been, and it would have been a good educational opportunity (and a good opportunity to draw in the audience familiar with the places) to use the real names.

Well, personally, there's just so many episodes... I'd rather just pick up a box set. I'm hoping if I wait long enough, they'll release one... eventually.

I'm hoping that there's a thinpack option in its future. Even boxsets could be very expensive with 400+ episodes.
